A week from today, the Phillies will play their final Grapefruit League game in Clearwater, Fla. Three days after that, Opening Day is March 26 against the Rangers at Citizens Bank Park.

Who is going to make the 26-man roster? Rafael Marchán or Garrett Stubbs as backup catcher? Stubbs, Dylan Moore or Bryan De La Cruz for the final bench job? Who gets the final two bullpen jobs? Kyle Backhus, Zach Pop, Chase Shugart, Seth Johnson and/or Zach McCambley?

We say it almost every episode in the spring: Don’t go crazy over spring training performances -- good or bad.

But Aaron Nola sure has looked good this spring. He pitched five scoreless innings for Team Italy in Wednesday night’s 9-1 victory over Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. Nola not only helped Italy go 4-0 in pool play, but he saved Team USA from potentially being eliminated from the tournament.

We talk a lot about Nola and his chances of bouncing back in 2026, Chase Utley’s induction onto the Phillies’ Wall of Fame and Zack Wheeler’s live BP on Saturday.

EMERGENCY POD!

News broke on Monday night that the Phillies and Jesús Luzardo have agreed to a five-year, $135 million contract extension, keeping him in a Phillies uniform through at least 2031. The Phillies also have a $32.5 million club option for 2032. The Phillies Show’s very own Jim Salisbury was first with the contract details. (This is why you listen to the show, folks.) We break down the deal. What do we like? What don’t we like?

And which Phillies player is next in line for a contract extension?

Kyle Schwarber reminded everybody on Saturday that he’s one of the most feared, most highly regarded hitters in baseball. He crushed a tie-breaking home run against Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic. Schwarber has hit fourth and first for Team USA in the team’s first two games. It got us thinking about his potential for enshrinement in Cooperstown, N.Y.

We also talk Dante Nori at the WBC, plus Aidan Miller visiting team doctors in Philadelphia.

If everybody does their thing, the Phillies’ rotation is the team’s strength in 2026.

There are questions, but the early performances from Cristopher Sanchez, Jesus Luzardo, Aaron Nola, Andrew Painter and Taijuan Walker have been encouraging. And so has the work of Zack Wheeler.

We also discuss Jhoan Duran’s first spring appearance, Bryce Harper’s spring and the World Baseball Classic.

Opening Day is less than a month away, and you’ve got questions about the Phillies.

Ruben, Jim and Todd answered several of your questions, answering everything from the pressure facing Andrew Painter to Justin Crawford’s ability to play center field every day to players to watch now that many Phillies will be at the World Baseball Classic.

Three years later, Andrew Painter delivered the goods.

He threw two scoreless innings on Sunday against the Yankees in his first Grapefruit League start in exactly three years. It’s been a long road back for Painter, who had Tommy John surgery in 2023. But in a 20-pitch effort against several quality big leaguers, Painter pounded the strike zone and got early contact. What to make of it?

What’s Zack Wheeler’s timeline to rejoin the rotation? What’s up with Aidan Miller’s back?

It’s not often we get Ruben, Jim and Todd together in the same room for a show, but we made it happen Wednesday in Clearwater.

They talked about Brad Keller and bullpen battles, a good early showing from Alec Bohm and Andrew Painter’s highly anticipated debut on Sunday against the Yankees.

The Phillies will play their Grapefruit League opener on Saturday against the Blue Jays in Dunedin. They play their home opener on Sunday against the Pirates at BayCare Ballpark.

What do we want to see in the coming weeks? There’s a lot. Good things from Aaron Nola. Good things from Adolis García. A sense of what the lineup is going to be. Is it going to be Kyle Schwarber protecting Bryce Harper or vice versa? How about good things from Phillies prospects Andrew Painter, Justin Crawford and Aidan Miller.
