Aditi talked about Kevin Colbert’s retirement and the time she spent talking to him.

The guys asked Aditi her thoughts on the Steelers draft. She thinks the Steelers added a lot of talent on the offense and loves the addition of Kenny Pickett.

Aditi Kinkhabwala joined the guys following the news of Devin Bush being declined of his 5th year option. Aditi gave her input on what went into the decision and if it was the right one.

The guys recapped the Steelers draft, featuring two QBs and two WRs in the 7 overall picks. With the second quarterback being drafted, the Steelers have a decision to make with Mason Rudolph still on the roster. The best case scenario for Rudolph is third string, but the Steelers will save money if they cut him. The guys gave their overall thoughts on the Steelers draft.

Mike Renner from Pro Football Focus joined the show. Mike loved what the Steelers did on the second day of the draft and said if Kenny Pickett works out it will be a great draft. He shared differences between Pickett and Joe Burrow because there have been some comparisons between the two. Mike’s love for the second day was easy – he believes George Pickens and DeMarvin Leal are top tier talents in the entire draft. Mike said Pickens could be one of the best receivers in football and of this draft class when you look back on it a few years from now. He also liked the Calvin Austin selection because of his sheer athleticism, but wasn’t selected highly because of his size. He can’t believe the Steelers got him in the 4th round. The guys asked Mike about Chris Oladokun, the Steelers 7th round pick, and he was at a loss for that selection. He said Connor Heyward is a “real player” and not just a pick because he’s Cam Heyward’s little brother. Mike’s grade for the Steelers was a B+.

Ed said Mike Tomlin will have more say in the Steelers selection because Kevin Colbert is on his way out as the team’s GM. Ed isn’t buying into the thought of the Steelers waiting until the second round and drafting Carson Strong. He said unless they truly believe a QB is their next franchise guy, they won’t rush to make that choice. Ed doesn’t expect Willis or Kenny Pickett will be available for the Steelers at 20, so they may look at another position. Three receivers were brought up by Ed as potential picks at 20. Ed shared a story of Tommy Maddox’s frustration when the team drafted Ben Roethlisberger in 2004. 

Cam Heyward was asked what he wants the Steelers to do tonight and he gave the honest answer – he wants competition at the QB position that includes Malik Willis or Kenny Pickett. Poni has Willis as his 5th QB going into the draft because he doesn’t believe the hype. Chris wants the team to completely avoid the quarterback position tonight.  The guys make their official picks. Chris said Jordan Davis. Poni said Malik Willis.
