Steelers insider Mark Kaboly from The Athletic joined the show. Mark is behind Donny getting a Jason Kelce jersey. He said Kelce versus Maurkice Pouncey for a Hall of Fame nod is a very tough argument. Mark gave his thoughts on the potential of Taylor Lewan joining the Steelers, but thinks something as little as his podcast would be something the Steelers would dislike. Why do the Steelers have such a focus on stopping the run when most of the powers in the AFC don’t use it that much in their offense? And it really seems like TJ Watt does not want Taylor Lewan on the team.

He said it started with the Arizona Bowl that was sponsored by Barstool Sports and a great lunch at 5 Guys. He said Lewan is the perfect guy for the job. He thinks a 1-year deal worth 8-10 million bucks would get the job done. Jerry doesn’t have much worry about TJ Watt not liking Lewan and he’ll understand that business is business. Jerry got dinner with Kenny Pickett last night and got some insight on the Steelers offense. He believes Kenny is the guy to rally the offense together and get it where it needs to be. Jerry talked about Kenny not getting the first team reps in camp, but said Kenny and Mitch Trubisky have an “amazing” relationship. He likes what he sees from Kenny in the 2-minute offense. He said Kenny hasn’t taken a day off since the season ended. Chris said Jerry could end up being the most important figure in the Steelers off-season.

Ray has focused a lot on the offensive line and said he would fully expect the Steelers to use one of the 3 picks they have in the top 50 on a big boy up front. Ray was asked about a few of the big guys he has seen making an impact early on. Ray doesn’t have a lot of interest in Taylor Lewan in Pittsburgh due to age and injury. The guys asked Ray if the Steelers will bring in any sort of offensive mind to the staff like they did with Brian Flores on the defensive side last year.

Report that CBS wanted an intervention with Tony Romo during this season.

What changes will the Steelers make this off-season, if any? What will the Steelers look to do in free agency? Art Rooney II seems very high on Cam Sutton and wants to keep him in a Steelers uniform because he is one of their original guys. The guys looked at the Eagles roster and dissected how loaded the unit is on both sides of the ball. Taylor Lewan has been flirtatious with the Steelers even though he is still under contract with the Titans. But it seems like TJ Watt isn’t interested and continues to big time the Pro Bowl tackle.

Pitt Panther Nelly Cummings joined the show. Nelly talked about the atmosphere in Chapel Hill last night as Pitt knocked off North Carolina. Nelly said he likes playing the villain role on the road. He said it felt like old Big East energy last night. Nelly said his loves the feel of this team and he had faith all season long that this group could figure it out and make it to the NCAA Tournament, crediting the other players and the coaching staff. Nelly talked about coming into this program and how the team has grown to trust each other throughout the season. Nelly scored over 2,400 points in high school and credited his dad for becoming the scorer he is. He talked about his journey from high school to Colgate and ending up back in his hometown at Pitt. 

The Morning Show was in Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day. What were some of the highlights? We loved the “Groundhog Chant.” Is it as big of a party as it looks?

Pitt hoops with another huge win last night on the road against North Carolina. We looked into some of the odd metrics of college hoops that are somehow keeping Pitt on the bubble. 

Former Steelers QB Kordell Stewart joined the show. Kordell talked about his excitement seeing Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes matching up in the Super Bowl. He talked about the stuff black QBs go through entering the league and why they always seem to be doubted and told they should spend more time playing receiver. He got into the style of play and how it factored into his career. He said it’s different today and he’s happy to see two men of color squaring off as opposing quarterbacks in the Super Bowl. He talked about his relationship with Neil O’Donnell and that he still keeps in touch with another former QB today.
