Pitt Panther Nelly Cummings joined the show. Nelly talked about the atmosphere in Chapel Hill last night as Pitt knocked off North Carolina. Nelly said he likes playing the villain role on the road. He said it felt like old Big East energy last night. Nelly said his loves the feel of this team and he had faith all season long that this group could figure it out and make it to the NCAA Tournament, crediting the other players and the coaching staff. Nelly talked about coming into this program and how the team has grown to trust each other throughout the season. Nelly scored over 2,400 points in high school and credited his dad for becoming the scorer he is. He talked about his journey from high school to Colgate and ending up back in his hometown at Pitt. 

Former Steelers QB Kordell Stewart joined the show. Kordell talked about his excitement seeing Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes matching up in the Super Bowl. He talked about the stuff black QBs go through entering the league and why they always seem to be doubted and told they should spend more time playing receiver. He got into the style of play and how it factored into his career. He said it’s different today and he’s happy to see two men of color squaring off as opposing quarterbacks in the Super Bowl. He talked about his relationship with Neil O’Donnell and that he still keeps in touch with another former QB today. 

Do we believe Tom Brady will stay retired this time? Chris questioned it and Poni prayed for it. Poni was very upset that Chris said he “enjoyed” watching Brady play late into his career. 

Steelers insider Mike DeFabo from The Athletic joined the show. Mike is celebrating his birthday while he’s at the Senior Bowl in Alabama. Mike talked about the appreciation he has for Tom Brady even as a Western, PA native. Mike said he has not seen Andy Weidl at the Senior Bowl, but he has seen other members of the Steelers front office – this brings up concern with Poni that the creator of the team’s draft board is not at a major college scouting event. Mike said offensive line had all of the attention of Mike Tomlin during yesterday’s session with 9 of the top 15 offensive tackles present. Mike highlighted Cody Mauch from North Dakota State who resembles a real-life Viking. Mike has the feeling Joey Porter Jr. won’t be available at 17 for the Steelers as it stands right now. He can’t see the Steelers trading up for Porter, but if he falls to them he would likely be the pick. Mike wants the Steelers to stay put at 17 and not move up or down.

Vince Williams basically said Brady was just too great, it was nothing about the Steelers shortcomings. The guys think it’s an excuse if anything because there were multiple times teams that weren’t the Patriots knocked out the Steelers and there were a handful of teams that knocked out the Patriots, like the Jets led by Mark Sanchez and the Ravens led by Joe Flacco.
