The Pomp And Joe Show

Joe thinks the Pirates pitching puts them close to competing for a wild card if they add hitters and a new general manager. The Pirates need to spend like other small market teams, like Milwaukee. We hear from Pirates fans.

Bubba Chandler debuted with a bang and four shutout innings to earn the save against the Rockies. If your staff begins with Paul Skenes and Bubba Chandler, it's a very good start. The Pirates lead MLB in shutouts (16).

The Eagles traded for backup quarterback Sam Howell. Joe is high on Howell and thinks he can play. Joe thinks Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels are similar quarterbacks in terms of their rookie seasons. He wanted the Steelers to potentially acquire him and thinks Howie Roseman trading for him means a lot.

This is the time for Penn State football to win the National Championship. Most people picking the playoff have Penn State going to the national semifinals. Matt Patricia is Ohio State's new defensive coordinator and replaces Jim Knowles, who went to Penn State.

Joe pushes back on Browns fans mad at him for thinking Myles Garrett isn't the third best player in the NFL. Skylar Thompson was solid in the preseason, but played well against Carolina's backups. Terry McLaurin signs a three-year, $96 million deal with the Washington Commanders.

Mike is keeping an eye on corner and depth offensive lineman. Do the Steelers keep Mark Robinson and/or Carson Bruener? Joe and Mike give the Steelers a B at quarterback. Grading each position group.

Wes Durham, thinks Clemson can stay in the top five all year. Wes thinks a lot of the verbiage around Pitt being 9th in the ACC preseason poll is with how the season ended. Wes thinks we will know who Pitt is in the first month to build trust. Wes thinks Eli Holstein being picked 12th is someone not knowing the league. Wes thinks there are 12-14 teams that can win the national championship.

ESPN ranks Myles Garrett as the third best player in the NFL. What??? Garrett recorded a career high pressure rate and since 2017 he's forced 215 incompletions according to NexGen Stats. Joe calls the list embarrassing and calls out the writers. Saquon Barkley is 17! T.J. Watt is only 11!

Another Steelers preseason has answered some questions, but other still remain. Should Rodgers have taken some snaps? Should Mason hold on to QB #2.
