The Pomp And Joe Show

TK tells a story about playing in beer league games and how a teenager tried to fight him, how he and his teammates handled the trade deadline and rumors.

Tyler Kennedy is back in studio to compare Skenes to Sid, his memories from the first day of camp, Brooks Orpik's strength, his fastest mile, what it's like playing preseason games at home vs on the road, a story about his belongings catching on fire (it's an amazing story)

We listen to some of Aaron Rodgers' previous comments as we await his arrival today. Austin gives the 7 players/coaches he will have his eye on during Steelers camp.

Patrick Queen was worried about getting traded, maybe because he had a rough year. Losing Elandon Roberts might prove costly. A caller lectures us for thinking the Steelers are going to the Super Bowl (we don't think this). What are the Bengals thinking with their defense? Big Ben thinks it's the Super Bowl or bust this year?

Can the Steelers improve their run defense? A caller says the lines will determine how the season goes, while another is down on the team because of Tomlin. Is Arthur Smith going to utilize his talent properly? The General has a Skenes card of the week and highlights some big card releases.

The start of the Steelers season is today. There's plenty of excitement. What is the realistic path this year. Austin says 12-5 is the absolute ceiling. The tackles are a major question mark. What is the floor? 6 wins? Rodgers is bad, the run defense continues to struggle, the old guys look old, WR2 remains a weakness. Austin still predicts 10-7, but feels like it'll be a better season than last. Derrick Harmon has barely been discussed lately with all of the other big Steelers news. Jalen Ramsey is #66 on the NFL Top 100.

The full Pomp and Joe Show, with Bob Pompeani and Austin Bechtold (behind the glass), from Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025

Hour 1 with Bob Pompeani: Paul Skenes dominated the Tigers over six shutout innings. He won his first game since May 28. Mitch Keller trade ideas. The Steelers are spending nearly $20 million more than the next closest team on defense. The defense needs to play like the highest paid and be the catalyst for success with Aaron Rodgers and questions on offense.

Hour 2 with Bob Pompeani: The Steelers arrive at training camp on Wednesday. ESPN ranks the Steelers the 19th best roster in the NFL. Did they get it right? The Steelers offensive line is a significant question and will come down to Broderick Jones more than anyone. The linebackers are the best unit and were excited to see the steps that Nick Herbig and Jack Sawyer take.

Hour 3 with Bob Pompeani: Quarterbacks over 40 don't play well. Can Aaron Rodgers be a different story? Rodgers' reps are important for chemistry in the setting. The Steelers have 12 guys who have made the Pro Bowl on the 2025 roster. Bob recaps his golf trip in Scotland. Greg in Youngstown doesn't want the Pirates to trade Mitch Keller, David Bednar, and Dennis Santana to bolster next year's team.
