The Pomp And Joe Show

The Pirates lost on Friday after a controversial bases-loaded strikeout of Henry Davis in the 8th inning. Davis clearly walked and would have tied the game, but a rookie umpire called it strike three. We want to see MLB adopt the ABS challenge next season. Joe wants to see Paul Skenes dominate, Oneil Cruz continue to ascend this season, Bubba Chandler to come up and be an absolute star, and Henry Davis to become a starter.

Are the Steelers looking for another offensive weapon? It’s time to build around Paul Skenes and so much more.

The full Pomp and Joe Show, with Joe Starkey and Austin Bechtold (behind the glass), from Friday, May 30th, 2025

Hour 1 with Joe Starkey and Austin Bechtold (behind the glass): The Steelers have had discussions with the Miami Dolphins about a Jonnu Smith trade. Would Jonnu Smith fit in the Arthur Smith offense? Would you trade Ke'Bryan Hayes? Can the Pens trade Erik Karlsson? Would you trade T.J. Watt?

Hour 2 with Joe Starkey and Austin Bechtold (behind the glass): Ray Fittipaldo thinks Aaron Rodgers will definitely sign with the Steelers for training camp. The Steelers want to see what Payton Wilson can do in year two. Joe and Austin quiz each other on spellings of sports players' names. Is this the worst segment in Fan history?

Hour 3 with Joe Starkey and Austin Bechtold (behind the glass): Henry Davis needs to get the bulk of reps at catcher. Would you trade Joey Bart at the deadline? Jordan Schultz is reporting the Steelers are still looking for weapons. Pitt and Penn State should play every year.

Hour 4 with Joe Starkey and Austin Bechtold (behind the glass): Bob thinks a bad manager has more of an effect on a team than a good manager. He thinks it comes down to the players, but Don Kelly has done well. Bob thinks it's important for guys to know they're going to be in the lineup a lot and have a chance to relax and go play and not look over their shoulder. Paul Skenes has looked dominant the last two starts and has still had good efficiency. A tribute to Pitt football SID E.J. Borghetti. He will now be a special assistant to the senior vice chancellor.
