The Pomp And Joe Show

The best texts of the day

Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette joined the show. The Russell Wilson discussions have come together quickly for the Steelers to talk to him. There's a chance this gets done and Ray doesn't think Wilson signs unless he's the starter or competing for the job. This would shut the door on Mason Rudolph and Rudolph would look for a better opportunity. The Steelers are in the market for a safety.

We share our thoughts on the newest Steelers QB rumor. Callers share their thoughts on Russell Wilson and Kenny Pickett.

BREAKING NEWS: Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has reported that the Steelers are interested in signing Russell Wilson.

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette joined the show. Henry Davis is the best catcher on the Pirates roster and Jason hasn't seen anything to the point that he can't catch in a Major League game. He's disproven the fact that he can't catch. Nick Gonzales is third in the second base race. Liover Peguero is likely the starter with Triolo playing around the field and Ji-Hwan Bae is a question mark. Mackey thinks Jared Triolo could win a gold Glove in the future. Connor Joe looks like he could be the starting right fielder. David Bednar, Jack Suwinski, and Oneil Cruz are the next players that makes sense for the Bucs to extend.

The Steelers have released safety Keanu Neal with a failed physical designation. The Pirates are getting closer to going north to Pittsburgh. Will Henry Davis be on the team? You have to find out if he can catch in the Major Leagues. What the Pirates do at second base is also important. Paul thinks they have a chance to be good if they bring in one more pitcher.

Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now joined the show. Dan took the report that the Penguins wanted to trade Jake Guentzel by Wednesday night with a grain of salt. This is shaping up to be a transformative free agent class with a chance to change the Penguins immediately. Sidney Crosby has played for less during his entire career. The Tristan Jarry trade rumors are people throwing stuff at the wall and hoping something sticks.

An update on our high school basketball story from New Jersey yesterday where a team is going to court over the final score. Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are fighting in July on Netflix. We will definitely be watching. It's Jake Guentzel day (again).
