What if you’re so obsessed with what God did in your life that you’re missing what God is doing in your life? Today is the first in a two-part series about being a more present leader. Let’s start by talking about present leaders and why it’s so important to focus on this. 


  • Growing up I would describe myself as being driven, achievement oriented and ambitious. Those are strengths and also weaknesses (0:46)

  • One of the greatest gifts you can give to people you impact - and to yourself - is your commitment to being a present leader (4:37)
  • I want to start by talking about present leaders - what they understand, believe and know (6:32)

  • The present leader knows that their attitudes and actions will be replicated (16:53)
  • It’s difficult to be scattered and distracted when you’re around a person who is deeply present and committed (18:17)
  • To be present is to express gratitude with your attention in such a way that others feel compelled to do the same (20:08)
  • The first enemy of presence is worry about the future (22:00)
  • The second enemy of presence is nostalgia for the past (23:27)
  • The last enemy is distraction in the present (28:39)
