Our special guest today, Bianca was an athlete. She was a great basketballer in her younger years and was travelling interstate and internationally for competitions and she was doing great.

But life is like a rollercoaster – there are ups and downs and she had two downtimes. One of them involved a huge credit card debt. 

So what happened? How did she climb back up? Did she run away and hide? 

Well… Bianca showed us what we can achieve by taking a step forward and being honest with ourselves and everyone around us. She also showed us her tenacity to do better and an unyielding ability to swim upstream.

This is probably the first time we’ve ever had a guest over where money conversations were not only discussed at the dinner table but… it was a hot topic any time of the day!

When Ricky was a kid, money was an issue.

Growing up in a family of 7, our special guest today confessed that there was unhealthy money education very early on. Although it didn’t feel like he missed a thing and his parents made sure him and his four brothers got everything they needed…

He was still able to sense some tension in the family.

You see, today’s guest grew up where credit cards and personal loans were the norm and he saw the effect of that chipping away on his parents’ relationships.

And unfortunately…. those bad habits stuck to him. To the point that the day he turned 18 and was eligible to get a credit card, he got one. (And you wouldn’t believe what he got right away too!)

Luckily, he met the love of his life who had great money senses and that managed to counter his bad habits…

Life was going great until one fateful night at work initiated a very serious spiral into a mental health crisis – PTSD, acute anxiety and acute depression.

All during COVID.

Today’s special guest, Brad is definitely not a quitter.

Born & raised in Zimbabwe, Africa while experiencing hyperinflation, it wasn’t a flowery path but Brad learned resilience and tenacity from a young age. He immigrated to Perth with the family when he was 19 and unfortunately, did not have an excellent start.

An unfortunate event led him to a lump sum of $25,000 which thankfully, he invested in property!

But that property didn’t quite work out.

He managed to recover the $25k and got another property. (Yay!)

But that property didn’t quite work out either. Most people would have given up by now but no… Brad did not. He recovered the $25k and yes, he got another property.

But… (it breaks our heart to say this) The third property STILL didn’t quite work out.

So… WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED?!

Obviously, that’s quite a full-on story, right!?! And definitely not something you hear every day.

But trust us, it gets even more “Wow.”

A thirst for knowledge is an excellent virtue to have but in some cases, you might encounter information overload… Or in other rare cases, you might be reading the wrong books or getting advice from mentors with hidden agendas.

Unfortunately, today’s Summer Series guest, Michael, is in the latter category.

But Michael did.
