  • During pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, it is important for fathers to participate. It will bring the relationship closer.
• Medical Backstory
  • Copper Toxicity from Copper IUD—discovered Taking Charge of Your Fertility and the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM)
  • Had morning sickness—taking B6 and B12 helped tremendously
  • Didn’t know what I didn’t know about birth. Didn’t know I could “shop” for a better or more aligned OB
  • Rhogam caused severe allergic reaction: caused severe itching during pregnancy then had an anaphylactic reaction after second dose
  • Seek the Lord to guide us to the right resources for healing when we experience issues and to teach us about our bodies
  • Explore and learn about how our bodies work and what natural foods and herbs can help to heal us
  • Do not let your dog lick peppermint!
  • Became impatient to have my first—tried old wives’ tales to encourage labor.
    • Lesson: the baby will come when the baby will come, attempting to force your hand in the Lord’s work might come at a cost
    • There is no “natural” induction, it’s not natural when the baby and your body did not make the decision to begin the birthing process
  • Learn about birth before you’re in your birthing time
  • Dependency on the medical system vs. learning about birth from our Creator

07 – Spiritual Awakening: Birth & the Transition into Motherhood

In This Episode on Spiritual Awakening: Birth & the Transition into Motherhood:

• Spiritual Warfare in Birth
  • The devil attempting to sabotage birth experiences to separate us from our Creator
  • The enemy attempting to separate us as mothers from our children
  • Spiritual warfare and stronghold aspects: depression, postpartum depression, etc.
    • Spiritual oppression: intrusive thoughts post-birth
    • Demons prey on this
• Trauma in Birth
  • A c-section is the only major surgery where a person is awake during the surgery
  • The medical system feeding fears about something happening to baby – seeds of fear and doubt 
  • Prayer is powerful
  • Everything we talk about is rooted in the spiritual realm – we are in a spiritual battle – this is what it looks like
  • Birth trauma is a battlefield
  • The enemy wants to steal so much from mothers during birth and postpartum
• Bridging the Gap Between Spiritual Warfare and Coming into Motherhood
  • The Lord uses these experiences (spiritual battle) to save
  • He can find us in these pits if we allow Him to
  • He can bring us peace that surpasses understanding
  • Birth led me (Rebecca) back to the Lord fully – in the darkness of an unnecessary cesarean (unnecesscerean), He led me back to Him
  • The Lord wants to give us life and give it abundantly
  • Yahweh is the WAY – following His way is most important, pray for Him to make your path clear
• The Enemy Attacks Us During Birth
  • He uses fear to scare and confuse us
  • He seeks to destroy
  • Being aware is the first step

In This Episode on Satan, Demons, & Spiritual Warfare: Oppression vs. Possession:

• Oppression vs. Possession
  • How our eyes have been opened to this topic recently as we’ve dug deeper into the Bible
  • The groundwork for Genesis 6 on what demons actual are (previous two episodes) so we can understand spiritual warfare better and what is oppressing us
  • This conversation is setting the framework for this and future conversations
  • Christ came to free us from our sin, and sin plays a role in spiritual warfare – which He came to set us free from 
  • Recap: demons are the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim and they are looking for a body to torment or inhabit, to indulge the lusts of the flesh
•  Oppression
  • Oppression is when a demon influences a person, and that would include a believer
  • Oppression is whispering to us from the outside
  • We have the authority to be in agreement with that entity
  • They (demons) appeal to the lusts of the flesh in both oppression and possession
  • Example: demons find weaknesses and press on them
• Possession
  • Controls the whole body, which is why in the Bible it shows someone that’s possessed has super strength, for example
• Our Call as Believers
  • As believers, it’s important to be aware of oppression so we can fight
  • There are over 80 references to demons in the New Testament, it’s Biblical
  • Social media feeds and fuels oppression in people – comparison as an enemy and thief of joy, opens the doorway for demons to feed on anxiety and depression
  • Reminder: we cannot put our stock about Christ in another person or organization. God is not found in a building. The Spirit of the Living God is in our bodies
  • When you don’t know what to say, say “Jesus” – there is power in His name. Demons have to flee in the name of Jesus.
  • The more you fight for the kingdom of God, the more demons will come for you – our health, children, marriage
  • Learning how to pray against these things is our biggest defense
  • Soul ties: a piece of your soul is bound to another person’s soul
    • This is why the Lord doesn’t want us to have multiple partners
    • There is a spiritual, demonic attachment here
    • Spiritual warfare prayers can help release this (deliverance prayers)

    • Have an open conversation about soul ties with your partner
