If you can take a few days /weeks/ months off of drinking, but inevitably you end up right back where you were with your drinking habits, you may be taking the Outside / In approach.
The Outside / In approach uses acts of will, force, rules etc. to create the change that you desire. But it doesn't work in the long run because you have an internal dialogue that is working in opposition.
In contrast, the Inside / Out approach, may seem to take longer, but the results are longterm if not permanent. My own journey and the manner in which I guide my clients is to take the latter approach. Begin the journey of healing your relationship with alcohol from the inside.
