  • Man, Fuck Black Friday Shopping at 4 AM

Happy Friday to you all! Specifically, Black Friday, for those of you who believe in such a thing.

    This Fella? Hell fucking no.

I wrote an article earlier today about not giving a rat’s ass about Black Friday. I don’t need to save fifty bucks on a TV badly enough to stand in line for hours in 20-degree weather when I’d normally be in the middle of my REM cycle of sleep. I also don’t like being stuck in the middle of large crowds of people who I don’t know.

Nope. I’ll just pay full price, thank you. Or shop online during Cyber Monday. That sounds a lot more comfortable to me. And Mooch can point out the types of dog treats she wants Santa to bring her.

I may be a Grinch about this topic, but at least I’m honest. You do you and enjoy Black Friday. I’ll just record a podcast about why I don’t care for it in the least. I hope you enjoy today’s rant, thank you for lending me your ears. &:^)

  • The Things I'm Thankful for and the Shit I'm Not

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope all is well and that you’re having a wonderful turkey day with friends, family, and people you care about. If you’re choosing to distance yourself from family members who negatively affect your mental health, I respect that choice.

Especially if they are loud-mouthed, ignorant MAGA fuckwits.

Today, I want to talk about the things that I’m thankful for and the ones that I’m not. Our country is in a dark place, less than two months from Trump grabbing power once again. It’s not going to be easy to deal with. But I also need to recognize the things that ARE good and positive in my life.

So let’s chat about those. Thank you for giving this one a listen, I appreciate and value all of you. Thank you for your continued support, the paid and free subscriptions, and more than anything, for being my friend.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Enjoy the holiday together. Big hugs from me and Mooch to you and yours. &:^)

  • Why Mooch is Truly This Man's Best Friend

    Happy Day Before Thanksgiving, Everyone!

It’s your favorite Mouthy writer and podcaster, wishing you a wonderful Pre-Thanksgiving Wednesday. I hope you’re off work already or will be soon, enjoying your friends, family, and fur-pets, like I am.

The Boy and I are going to be making Bánh Xèo, a Vietnamese treasure for dinner tonight. There will be music, drinks, and the entire immediate family home with us tonight, the evening before Thanksgiving.

Libby will be at our feet in the kitchen, doing Mooch things. In today’s episode, I talk about just how much she means to me and why I will not be ok, should I outlive my 12 1/2 year old dog of a lifetime.

Buckle up, this one got me pretty emotional. But I’m always willing to share with y’all. Happy Pre-Thanksgiving to all of you wonderful friends, fans, and supporters. You mean the world to me and my Mooch. &:^)

  • The Hardest I Ever Made My Dad Laugh, During Thanksgiving

Hey Y’all! Happy Tuesday. It was a low-key, somewhat somber day earlier. I found myself a bit annoyed at home this morning with so many people home during the day, which is not generally the case. But with three family members at home when they’re usually working, it was difficult to focus on my writing.

So I booked it over to my Bride’s office to get some quiet time to write and to do this podcast.

With the drive over here and stopping for gas, I found myself a bit behind my usual schedule. But that’s ok. I thought I’d record a happier, more upbeat podcast this afternoon and try to feel a bit happier. I decided to talk about a funny Thanksgiving story, and how it led to my dad laughing harder than I’d ever heard him laugh.

Check it out and let me know if you enjoyed it. I felt better after recording it, I hope you get a kick out of it, too. Thank you for your continued support and the new paid subscriptions today. You guys are amazing. &:^)

  • I Didn't Realize How Fast Time Passes Until I Had Kids

Well hello, and Happy Monday to you all!

I’m happy to be back with you this Monday before Thanksgiving. I hope some of you are off for the week, or at least get two days off. A shorter workweek would be welcomed by most, I’m sure.

If you’re not off this week, I hope that time passes quickly for you until Turkey Day. Speaking of time passing quickly, in today’s podcast, I discuss how quickly time flies when you’re having kids. Specifically, as we’re raising them.

My college-aged kids going out last night downtown reminded me of how quickly life moves forward. And though they’re of legal drinking age and are now going to clubs or bars by themselves, this Dad still stayed up until they arrived home a bit after midnight. &:^)

Enjoy today’s episode and thank you so much for your continued support. I couldn’t do this without my paid and free subscribers. You all motivate me with your subscriptions to put out the best writing and podcasts daily that I’m able to do. I value and appreciate you all!

  • Enjoy Life and Reach Your Goals While You're Young

    Happy Sunday, Everyone!

In today’s podcast, I talk about life goals and reaching them when you’re younger. I think back to when I was my son’s age and realize how delayed I was in reaching some of life’s important milestones. I’m glad he’s doing the things now that will help him to enjoy life as he grows older.

This isn’t to say that you can’t achieve things or be happy at an older age. I didn’t start writing until I was 47 and the past three years have been the most fulfilling, wonderful years of my working career. But it’s sure easier in many ways if you find what makes you happy at a younger age.

But don’t give up. Regardless of whatever age you are, you can accomplish anything if it means enough to you. 525,000 views in the past 30 days here on Substack have taught me that anything is possible if you show up daily and work your tail off. I’m proud of myself.

Thank you all for your continued support. Your paid subscriptions that keep coming are making this all possible. I owe you a debt of gratitude and my best effort daily in my writing and podcasting. I couldn’t do it without you all.

Hope you enjoy today’s podcast! &:^)

  • Listen Up Men, This Shit is Important

Alright, Fellas. I’m gonna say some shit, and you’re gonna listen. If you’re smart, that is.

I do this because I care, not because I’m trying to Man-Shame. I say these things because a LOT of men need to hear them. Not all men, I get it. I’m not talking to the ones who don’t need to hear this message. I’m preaching to the ones who DO need to hear it. You’ll know which one you are after you listen to this episode.

Women need to be respected and treated as the equals that they are. Especially as we’re on the verge of Donald Trump’s second presidency, and the eventual debut of Project 2025. Now more than ever, men need to be allies with women and show this country’s band of misogynistic goons that we’re not going to allow sexism to rule our nation.

Mrs. Pro and I don’t believe in gender roles. We taught our daughters that they can do anything and more than men can. They believe in themselves because they’ve seen Mom’s strong example over the years. And my support of her doing all the things she wants to when men in her past told her she shouldn’t or couldn’t.

Thank you for listening. I have dinner to make tonight while Mai works on a few home improvement projects. I hope you enjoy this one, and thank you for your continued support! &:^)

  • A Trip to the Liquor Store and Memories of My First Time Drinking

Happy weekend, Everyone! It’s Friday and I’m in love. With having a good time. As we wait for the arrival of our son coming home from college later tonight, I was thinking about being that age.

I didn’t party when I was younger. I had my first drink at 24 or 25 years old.

That probably comes along with being raised in church by a pastor father, attending 3 times a week. We were taught that everything was a sin and evil. Damn, I’m glad I outgrew that guilt shit. I took my 21-year-old bonus daughter on her first trip to the liquor store today and we had fun together. Tonight, I’m making shrimp fried rice, The Boy will be bartending, and we’ll eat, drink, and be merry.

Today’s podcast talks about how my children are far more responsible than most young people about drinking. I also tell the story of the first time I ever got drunk and the lesson I learned from it. I hope you all enjoy a more light-hearted podcast today.

Happy weekend! Cheers to you all, and thank you for lending me your ears! &:^)

  • Donald Trump to Matt Gaetz: "You're FIRED!"

    Eat shit, Matt Gaetz.

In today’s episode of, “How Badly Can Trump Fuck Over America?” there’s actually great news. Matt Gaetz has withdrawn from his nomination to be Attorney General. But let’s be clear, he didn’t do this voluntarily. Trump fired him before he was even hired. “YOU’RE FIRED, BOTOX BUTTHEAD!”

Evidently, it’s poor form to nominate probable pedophiles and child traffickers. Even for a convicted adjudicated rapist like Donald Trump.

In today’s episode, you’re going to hear a mouthy Libby the Mooch in the beginning. She went off just as I started recording. Then we’re going to talk a little (lot of) shit about Matt Gaetz and the rest of Tronald Dumpster Fire’s cabinet nominees.

Buckle up, Y’all. It’s time to get mouthy. Mooch agrees. You’ll see. &:^)

  • You're Allowed to Change the Cost of Access to You

Hey Substack! Glad to see you all today, thank you for checking out this episode. I had a thought about something today as I was driving around running errands with Libby the Mooch. We were enjoying a nice car ride, she loves a good buh-bye, when this thought hit me:

You have every right to change the cost, terms, or conditions for people to access your time.

Your time is valuable, and it should be treated as such. If someone doesn’t understand that or gets offended by you saying “no” to their request, fuck ‘em. The real ones will understand and have your back. Don’t feel guilt or shame for putting your needs and your mental health ahead of their requests.

The holidays are coming up and you are under no obligation to do anything you don’t feel like doing. This includes spending time with MAGA family members if they can’t/won’t respect your boundaries. I’m putting myself, my family, and Mooch first this holiday season.

And it’s going to fucking rock. Thank you for downloading this episode and I appreciate all of the love and support you’re sending my way. And special thanks to the ones who are giving Mooch and me the paid and free subscriptions. It motivates us to keep kicking ass and entertaining you all. We love you all. &:^)
