Listen, ya’ll are not ready! We are starting 2025 off with a bang. Jordy Mckaskle is on the show today, and we are diving deep into the art of surrender. As Jordy unfolds parts of his story with us, diving into failed dreams and hardships he’s walked, he teaches throughout how to be brutally honest with God– and consequently, how to allow God to be brutally honest with us. However, it it all, Jordy highlights the immense compassion of the Lord even in those moments we fall apart. In it all, I feel that Jordy paints the picture of how to remain in the Lord– even when life doesn’t look the way we thought. We also talk about Jordy’s vision for a new and upcoming 20s and 30s ministry called The Bridge. If you are in your 20s or 30s (yes, that includes late 30s), if you’re out of college, and whether you’re married or single, children or no, The Bridge is for you. Listen to hear more about it, and I cannot wait for you to hear Jordy’s story.

We’ve got a great show for you in our last week of 2024! My friend Martha Grace Courtright is on the podcast today sharing with us her story and much wisdom. With all that she balances, Martha Grace shares with us her latest endeavor to better practice Sabbath and eliminate the hurry culture in her life. Join me today for a short and sweet episode as we dive in together to the Christmas story. As we look into the lives of Zechariah, Elizabeth, Joseph, Mary and the Shepherds– they each had different roles to fill. Different contributions and therefore different sacrifices. Each of them are remembered at this time of year for the things that they did– but what about the things they didn’t? Paired with each of their stories of obedience were many things they gave up. Many hardships they faced and were willing to face. As each laid down their plans, dreams, comfort, and what others thought of them, they prepared room for their coming Messiah. Though they knew not all that it would mean, they each gave what they had to the Lord as they understood. And while we won’t have their stories, we too can and must prepare Him room in this season, but also in every facet of our lives. We may not know what He will do with it, but He does. 

So press play while you drive, wrap your presents, and finish up your cooking– and Merry Christmas!

He connects what may seem like merely a mystical concept to a true reality we can walk in everyday, giving us a new perspective of our identity in Christ. Kyle draws such a vivid distinction that while we are firmly rooted in our union with Christ, as we live in the here and now, we can experience disrupted communion with God. We talk about some ways this may happen and the whys. Trust me, you’re going to love it and leave encouraged! If you know SueAnn Graeber, then you know the deeply joyful person she is. Once my second grade Sunday school teacher, and now my daughter’s, I’ve known SueAnn for a long time. She always has a smile on her face and she is a steady presence in so many people’s lives. What you may not realize is the endurance, perseverance, and faith it has taken to keep that level of joy. In her story, you will hear the reason SueAnn’s joy is so unshakeable is because in so many earth-shattering circumstances, she chose faith in her God. Over and over again, SueAnn chose to put her trust and faith in the God who is still doing miracles today, and her story showcases that in a million different ways. What strikes me the most about SueAnn’s story is that not only is it miracle upon miracle despite the devastation and hardship she’s walked through, but the fact that she didn’t miss it. She hasn’t missed what the Lord’s done and redeemed and healed and restored in her life, because her eyes are set on the One who holds it all. I don’t know what you’re facing today, but if you need to be reminded today that He is able and He still does miracles, listen to SueAnn’s story.

Andrew and I have already had some great conversations coming from things I learned in this very conversation. This week is both a continuation of my conversation with Jessika McKaskle from last week and a really powerful stand-alone message for a strong and intentional marriage. We all bring habits, biases, and oftentimes baggage into our marriage whether we realize it or not. One of the first steps of intentionality within marriage is becoming aware of what those are. Jessika shared with us last week her journey of first realizing her struggle for control and perfection and her journey of relinquishing self-sufficiency through the grace of Jesus Christ. Highly recommend listening if you haven’t! But that is just step one when it comes to marriage. What does it look like to walk that out with our spouse? How have our patterns and brokenness affected the person we love most? In our struggles, what have we unintentionally communicated to our spouse? And more pointedly, how can we grow together and strengthen our marriages? Jessika does a fantastic job of giving some practical yet powerful actionable steps that I promise will impact your marriage.

Jessika McKaskle is on the podcast this week, and it is such a gift! If you don’t  know Jessika, she is open and honest and keeps things real. Today was no different as she shares with us her battle with control, self-sufficiency, and perfectionism. Hearing her lay it all out so boldly is such a powerful reminder for us to search our hearts on where we may be holding these very same things.  Growing up in the church and then becoming a pastor’s wife as well as a mother, Jessika’s story lays out such a clear picture of why we may be struggling with these very things and yet the beautiful, amazing truth of God’s grace that we can choose to live in. 

You will hear us talk about how these things pertain to marriage, but because we ended up with basically two distinct and powerful messages, we’ve chosen to share her story in Part 1 and Part 2. This week will camp on Jessika’s background with these topics as we went into marriage, ministry, and motherhood, but next week we will dive deeper into how she and Jordy learned to uproot some of these patterns within their marriage. I can’t wait to share it with you!

You have asked for Terry Slawson, and we listened! Today’s conversation was my first time meeting Terry, and you guys were not lying. It is. so. good. Every minute is so needed. Terry shares how he came to know Christ, what it looked like to follow Him– even in a later call to ministry that eventually led him to begin Seeker Springs with his late wife Tammie. Terry also shares with us Tammie’s battle with cancer and his own personal walk through devastating loss. We talk about what it looked like for him to truly seek the Lord in every single one of those chapters– in the very beginning and in the unspeakable grief. We also talk about steadfastness and what it means to truly walk that out. Terry’s story illustrates the importance of prayer and community and highlights God’s provision in his children and grandchildren. Today’s conversation even shares how Terry met Jill, his wife, and the graciousness of God bringing them together after walking similar roads of losing a spouse to cancer. Yall, he’s just a real one,  you’re just going to love him. I can’t wait to share it with you.
