Over the past year, our personal relationships have all felt the strain of living under lockdown restrictions. Alongside this, our Instagram explore pages are filled with infographics urging us to cut out toxic friends, demand compensation for emotional labour, and to prerequisite all important conversations with a check in on the other persons capacity. But how do we assert healthy boundaries without falling down a hole of pseudo-psychological slogans? Should we fight for our friendships, or spot the red flags and act upon them asap? This episode Ione and Olivia are discussing care; from how our chosen families can often mimic the nuclear ones we're all somewhat trying to escape from, to how to build meaningful nurturing roles in our own communities away from capitalist society.
The Polyester Podcast is brought to you by Polyester's founding editor in chief Ione Gamble (@ionegamble), and co-hosted and produced by Olivia Graham. Polyester is a self published culture zine exploring intersectional URL feminism in the IRL world. Have faith in your own bad taste!
