The SportsGrid Fantasy Football Show

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show looking at the Patriots ugly victory over the Bills, where we saw New England dress only 2 running backs, and Buffalo trying everything, including the kitchen sink, to win this game. The guys go on to talk about the Browns firing HC Hue Jackson and OC Todd Haley, with Scott thinking it will be interesting to see who Cleveland goes after to get this Baker Mayfield-led offense up and running. The news of Ryan Fitzpatrick being given back the starting QB job in Tampa Bay has Dane happy that the gun-slinger is back under center, and Scott says Fitzpatrick is only fantasy relevant depending on who your other quarterback may be. Six teams go on BYE for Week 9, and the guys try to help out people who may be walking in to a BYE WEEK HELL situation.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show questioning not only if Dirk Koetter will be fired, but if Ryan Fitzpatrick will go back to starting duties in Tampa Bay. The trade deadline is looming, and the guys wonder if DeSean Jackson will still demand out of Tampa Bay if Fitzpatrick goes under center again. In the NFC East, the Redskins seem to be on the right track to win the division, with Adrian Peterson taking advantage of the Giants defensive line sans Snacks Harrison. Now that we are 8 weeks in to the NFL season, the guys question if the Chiefs and Pat Mahomes are for real, and if they can take down teams like the Rams, who they will see in a couple of weeks. With six teams on bye in week 9, Dane and Scott argue if Peyton Barber will finally be relevant, and possibly a top 25 running back.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show with Dane asking Scott why there are so many in-season trades in the NFL this year, with Scott answering , "it's because they pay attention to fantasy football." Jack Doyle is scheduled to be back with the Colts in a few weeks, which has the guys questioning if it's time to sell Eric Ebron. Dane and Scott tip their cap to Jets running back Bilal Powell, who went on IR with a possibly career-ending neck injury. Looking at Scott's Week 8 rankings, Dane questions if players just outside the top 15 have as much chance to put up big numbers as the top fantasy players for the week. Scott, Dane, and Producer Chris Bivona argue over the exact definition of underrated, pertaining to the Eddie Murphy film, The Distinguished Gentleman.

The guys also look at the NFL trades happening before the deadline, including Eli Apple going to the Saints, and Rishard Matthews heading to the Jets. The guys look at the backfield for the Jaguars, with Scott questioning George Kurtz's article saying to buy low on Leonard Fournette, even though Jacksonville just traded for Carlos Hyde. Dane and Scott question the possibility of Demaryius Thomas being traded from Denver, and also look at the upside value of Courtland Sutton. Dane breaks the news of the Giants trading Damon Harrison to the Lions.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show looking at the Falcons win over the Giants on Monday night, with Dane asking Scott if Saquon Barkley is a top 3 fantasy pick, but Scott says the Amari Cooper trade to Dallas boosts Ezekiel Elliott just a tad. Dane and Scott break down the Raiders' and Cowboys' trade involving Amari Cooper, with the guys liking how the Raiders got a 1st round pick from Dallas, giving them 3 for the 2019 NFL draft. The Cooper trade has Dane and Scott wondering if players like Patrick Peterson, Demaryius Thomas, and DeVante Parker will be wearing new uniforms before the trade deadline. Dane says he can breathe now learning that Sony Michel's leg injury has no structural damage, and will only be week-to-week. The Jaguars trading for Carlos Hyde has Dane wondering if the Jags should be shopping around for a quarterback, with Scott thinking they should call the Colts about a package for Jacoby Brissett. The guys finish the hour saying Mitch Trubisky is showing he has the ability to carry fantasy teams as a QB1\.

They also discussed options for the Patriots' running game. They discussed Derrick Henry and weighed in on whether he should continue to be on fantasy roster despite reaching the end zone week 7\. Dane and Scott look at the future of the Seahawks and Chargers, with one owner passing, and the other not having great sales after moving to Los Angeles, respectively. Dane and Scott discuss the possibility of the Seahawks or Chargers being re-located, with Dane thinking the Chargers moving to Mexico City could be a possible future destination. A promo for Fantasy Football Frenzy with Corey Parson talking about Scott's fantasy records has Dane questioning the rivalry between Scott and Corey.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show by talking about how to deal with having four teams on bye, including owners of Marshawn Lynch, who is set to have an MRI on his groin. With Devonta Freeman going on IR with a foot injury, Scott says Tevin Coleman is a must start, while Ito Smith is an interesting waiver wire pick-up, and Dane questions the future of the Falcons' backfield. Dane questions his own sanity after asking Scott if it would be smart for the Giants to trade Eli Manning to Jacksonville for Blake Bortles. Talking about more running backs, Scott calls Dion Lewis a drop candidate, and Dane even says it's not crazy to add Ito Smith in place of Lewis.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show talking about Aaron Rodgers' heroics last night against the 49ers, with the guys happy he is playing like the Aaron Rodgers we know and love, despite aggravating his knee injury. Dane questions if Marquez Valdes-Scantling has any fantasy value after coming up big last night, but Scott says he will be more important to the Packers than fantasy teams. On the 49ers' side, Dane looks at the fantasy value for Raheem Mostert, who out-snapped Alfred Morris to be the second running back behind Matt Breida. The Packers' victory puts the NFC North division up in the air, but Scott still thinks it's the Vikings' division to lose. The Bucs fired defensive coordinator Mike Smith, and Dane and Scott question if you can stream players against their spotty defense. Looking at some early Week 7 Waiver Wire targets, Dane questions if Bilal Powell has any value, but Scott says look for someone like Nick Chubb on waivers.
