The SportsGrid Fantasy Football Show

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show recapping the Sunday Night game between the Chiefs and Patriots, which they say could have been a preview of the AFC Championship. Looking at the Falcons vs. Bucs, the guys like the play of Jameis Winston, but worry that Julio Jones will never get a touchdown this season, and are done with the hype of Tevin Coleman. The Colts' running game for the most part has been abysmal, but the guys liked what the saw from Marlon Mack, and think Nyheim Hines will have to earn his takes, after dropping a sure touchdown against the Jets. Scott was happy with the play of the Seahawks over in London, but also says the Raiders are terrible to the point that not even a blue pill could help their flaccid offense. Dane thinks Melvin Gordon has quietly become one of the top fantasy running backs, and deserves to be talked about with the likes of Todd Gurley and Saquon Barkley.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show looking at the Giants falling apart against the Eagles. While the guys are excited for the prospect of Saquon Barkley being a generational talent, the rest of the Giants' offense may be the most frustrating in the NFL. Dane, like everyone else, believes Eli Manning is done, and wonders if rumors about Colin Kaepernick coming to the Giants holds water, but Scott calms that thought down, saying like all other Kaepernick scenarios that make sense, it won't happen. On the other side of the ball, Dane and Scott loved seeing Carson Wentz hooking up with Alshon Jeffrey for two touchdowns. Looking at some more running backs to use in Week 6, the guys question if Ronald Jones and Rashard Penny will finally get some opportunities for RB2 value with their respective teams, the Bucs and Seahawks. Speaking of the Bucs, Dane asks Scott if he should be feeling high on using Jameis Winston this weekend against the Falcons.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show talking about some injury updates involving tonight's game, including how Evan Engram will sit out, but the Giants will also see the return of Olivier Vernon. An injury riddled Devonta Freeman has picked up a new injury, and the guys wonder if there is another running back to get in fantasy not named Tevin Coleman. News has come out that Leonard Fournette will be out until Week 10, and Dane and Scott figure out the fantasy value of T.J. Yeldon, and if newly-signed Jamaal Charles will have any impact for the Jaguars. The return of Le'Veon Bell does not mean you need to sit James Conner, as the guys break down reports that Ben Roethlisberger wants to keep Conner in the mix. Looking at quarterbacks, Dane wants to start Jameis Winston, but Scott cautions that you can find safer plays over the Bucs' play-caller. The guys finish the hour looking at some rankings, with Scott loving Marshawn Lynch this week against the Seahawks.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the morning talking about how TJ Yeldon will be a solid RB1 while he holds on to the Jaguars' starting running back job. The guys look at some other running backs to target in waivers, including Mike Davis, and also question the values for the Jets' backfield of Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell. Dane goes back to a poll question from Fantasy Freestyle asking which teams with ties (Packers, Vikings, Steelers, Browns) have the best chance of making a run for the playoffs.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the morning talking about the historic night made by Drew Brees, and how they can handicap the Saints' wide receivers outside of Michael Thomas. Looking at a big time season-ending injury to Jay Ajayi, the guys question who is the Eagles' running back to own in fantasy between Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, and Darren Sproles. The guys look at the injury issues at tight end, with Austin Sefarian-Jenkins hitting IR, and seeing a possible return from Greg Olsen. Looking at some bye week issues, Dane and Scott question who is a better streaming quarterback between Jameis Winston and Mitch Trubisky.

Dane Martinez and Scott open the show looking at Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs staying perfect against arguably the NFL's best defense in the Jaguars, and how Mahomes has become not only a great fantasy quarterback, but a great quarterback in the NFL. The guys question if the Ram defense, which held off the Seahawks after giving up 31 points to also stay perfect, is nothing more than a solid pass rush, with Scott saying the Seahawks have been running the ball well with Mike Davis and Chris Carson. Talking about the Giants' epic loss to the Panthers, the guys talk about how Graham Gano's game winning field goal was much like the Giants' loss to the Eagles and Jake Elliott's game winning field goal. The combined totals of the AFC North, with every team over or at .500, has the guys wondering if it is not only division up for grabs, but the best division in the NFL; Scott cautions that the 4-1 Bengals still may not win a playoff game.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel are fired up on a Friday morning recapping the Patriots' win over the Colts. Some of the headlines from that game they go through is how the Patriots are back to being the Patriots, Josh Gordon is better for New England than your fantasy team, and Eric Ebron is finally becoming a top fantasy tight end thanks to the many passing opportunities from Andrew Luck. The guys chat with Dr. A of Inside Injuries about the latest injury news for players like Devonta Freeman and Dalvin Cook. Dane and Scott give their Week 5 picks in betting and survivor.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show looking at tonight's matchup between the Colts and Patriots. The main headline in the Thursday night game is the injury bug hitting both teams, with the Colts worrying about Marlon Mack and T.Y. Hilton, and the Patriots looking like they will be without Rob Gronkowski. Looking at some of Scott's in-season rankings heading in to Week 5, the guys believe Cooper Kupp is the top wide receiver for the Rams' fantasy herd, and Scott also says Tyler Boyd is a must start WR2\. Looking at tight ends, the guys question if Jared Cook's top-five value will sustain all season, and Dane wonders why Scott has Tyler Kroft higher than the consensus.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show looking at how players coming back from suspensions, including Mark Ingram and Julian Edelman, will impact their teams and how they will impact your fantasy lineups. The return of Edelman specifically, has the guys wondering if Chris Hogan is droppable in most leagues, though Scott says it depends on who you pick up for him. Looking at the strong play of the Chiefs, Scott calls Pat Mahomes a combination of Russell Wilson and Ben Roethlisberger, but also thinks his Chiefs will lose to a tough Jaguars defense. Looking at some waiver wire pick-ups, the guys question if there are any tight ends to replace Gronk, but many leagues are falling to where the best tight end on the waiver board is Ben Watson. Dane says it's time to respect the Titans, who have beaten two divisional foes and the defending Super Bowl champions, and should have a bigger spread line against the Bills this week.

Dane Martinez opens the show talking about the Monday night game where we saw Pat Mahomes pass his biggest test, and how we are seeing a Thunder and Lightning combo between Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay. Dane goes over some news and notes, including how he will have to figure out what to do with James Conner now that Le'Veon Bell is coming back to the Steelers by Week 8\. Though they are league rivals, Dane and Mike Blewitt help out Producer Chris Bivona, whose Carton and Friends fantasy team has fallen on hard times, with some waiver wire pick-ups for Week 5\. Now that the Fitzmagic ended in Tampa Bay, Dane and Mike look to see if Jameis Winston is worth a roster spot. A lot of tight ends have been hit with an injury bug, so the guys look to see if players like Jared Cook are worth picking up off waivers.
