It’s always a great day when a Jersey boy makes it to the big leagues. John Valentin has had an amazing career. Rising through the ranks with his talent for baseball and making it to the pros playing for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and as a Hidden coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers. After retirement John has Taken his wealth of Experience and passing it on to the next generation so they don’t have to suffer as most pro athletes.

Dr. Leeja Carter is a true renaissance woman.

A Fulbright Scholar, feminist changemaker, and expert on inclusive and equity-focused practice in health and wellness, Dr. Carter's work has been featured on CNN’s Connect the World, Black News Channel, Salon.com, Self Magazine, Livestrong, Bustle, Women's Health, Pride Magazine, Beauty INC, and Psychology Today. In 2021, Dr. Carter quite literally jumped: she walked away from a 15 - year career as a professor and scholar whose applied research and sport psychology practice centered Black women’s health, community health and wellness and founded her non profit the Coalition for Food and Health Equity where she holds the position of founder and CEO. At CFHE, she toils in racial equity, health, and access often and brings her wide range of skills in research, health and sport equity, development and leading to accomplish practical goals with visionary reach. She is the (Past) Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP)'s Diversity and Inclusion Executive Board Division Head and an AASP Fellow. 

Dr. Carter has presented internationally as well as published peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and popular articles on topics related to feminist sport psychology, black feminist politics, social justice, feminist leadership, gendered racism in sport, inclusion, and diversity. In 2019 she published, Feminist Applied Sport Psychology: From Theory to Practice, an edited text addressing intersectional feminist, womanist, and black feminist praxis in sport psychology. In 2018 she was awarded the Fulbright Specialist Scholar award and served as a Visiting Scholar at London South Bank University (LSBU) on the “This Girl Can” project where she consulted on the center’s work addressing cross-cultural barriers to exercise engagement amongst racial and ethnic girl’s residing in the region.

Dr. Carter received a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a Post-Master's Certification in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a concentration in the Psychology of Human Movement from Temple University.

Benny Love has decided to change his life in many different ways starting with his name. Breaking the chains of a disadvantaged upbringing, Benny now spreads the love. it wasn’t always that way, growing up on the streets of Hoboken engaging in illegal activities landed Benny in jail contemplating the next move of his life.  Returning to the streets once again to resume his criminal activities, looking at his children and seeing them in his situation in their future prompted a life transformation. Through struggles and trials he has emerged in the community of Hoboken as a shining light that there are no lost lives only paths to success.

If you are a true boxing fan, Gerry Cooney will inevitably pop up as having one of the most memorable fights in history. Fighting such opponents as Ken Norton, George Foreman, and Larry Holmes has solidified his reputation in history as one of the greats. The biggest battle fought by Gerry was outside of the ring. If we don’t learn, we stagnate and eventually die. With each new interaction in life we must pull the good and the bad in order to learn those life lessons. To carry us forward to live our best lives for another day.Some lessons are hard learned battles that take us to dark places. We watch these scenarios from a distance and try our best to avoid them. Taking the education that is Taught by those that come before us.  When we emerge from the classroom of life and our years are becoming fewer and fewer, that knowledge that we work so hard to attain will serve us In ways we could never imagine. Making us better, stronger, and more resilient. Opening our eyes and creating better human beings.

Mike Turner spent his life saving the lives of others and making sure his fellow firefighters, as well as himself, survived the riggers of his job. Retiring from the Hoboken Fire department took Mike out of the daily survival mode but could not extinguish his instincts to move forward towards the next challenge. Trying out and making it onto season 42 of the hit CBS reality series Survivor, Mike was well trained in the arts of making it through to another day with a smile and warm personality.
