Today’s SWAPA Number is $4.7 million. That’s the amount of money that SWAPA has recovered for our Pilots through payroll audits since 2015. Today on the show we are going to chat with Payroll Auditor and Contract Administrator Matt Monahan and Contract Admin Chair Seth Kornblum about what goes into auditing a pilot’s pay, how long the process takes, and what a pilot can expect when they call Contract Admin with a payroll question.

10.7%, that’s Southwest’s adjusted net margin for the third quarter. We rank #2 in the industry, behind only Allegiant. But more importantly we were #1 among the Big 4, despite the Max grounding. Today we talk to EFA & IRC chair Erich Schnitzler about the committee, preparations for Contract 2020 and what today’s number means for those negotiations.

Today’s SWAPA number is .1%. That’s the amount of a temporary dues increase currently being debated by the SWAPA BOD to cover the increased cost of negotiating Contract 2020. On the show today, we’re going to talk to SWAPA 2nd VP Brian Fitting about the temporary dues increase from 1% to 1.1%. He’s going to tell us why the SWAPA BOD is debating the issue and why our Pilots might be asked to vote on it sometime in 2020.

Today's SWAPA Number is 1,983 that's the number of pilots who have joined Southwest since we signed our contract in 2016. Those pilots weren't here for our last contract negotiations and aren't aware of the four and a half year effort it took, including federal mediation to get a fair contract. For the first time, SWAPA pilots conducted informational picketing over a series of five events culminating in the largest single site pilot picket in industry history. It was a watershed event that we keep at the forefront of our thinking as we gear up for 2020. Today on the show, we're going to talk to Mike Panebianco, SWAPA Vice President who had a front row seat to the whole thing and will give us a look behind the scenes during one of the most turbulent times our union and our company have ever faced.

Today’s episode is a continuation of last week's SWAPA Number, 124. That's the number of CBA grievances currently open. Right now, there’s a three-digit backlog of open grievances waiting for arbitration because our Union and our Company can’t agree on what our CBA says. Ultimately, this week’s SWAPA Number is the reason SWAPA is pushing for a full rewrite in Contract 2020.
