Stew is back to break down his amazing summer of 2023, the prep and commitment that has gone into another successful run at and on the Walker Cup Team, winning his 3rd US Mid Am, and winning The Crump Cup at Pine Valley.

Of course by virtue of his Mid Amateur triumph, Stew will be competing in The Masters for the 3rd time as well as the US Open for the 5th time. Pretty cool stuff and fun to get to hear how he thinks about the importance of those events to him, what the differences are between them, and how that relates to the way he prepares for each.

Well, that was an interesting week. Maybe not quite what the American fans had hoped for, but the golf course, desired controversy, and juice from the environment all lived up to the hype we all desire out of the Ryder Cup. Always a fantastic week to be a golf fan, regardless of the outcome.

As you can probably gather from the title, Neal Shipley is not your average Amateur golfer. Nothing against many of my other peers of the past, but not many guys are as interesting as Neal.

Although somewhat a thing of the past, the US Open has a long history of crazy setups, some reaching the point to where players discussed not being willing to play the event or to boycott the event altogether. While the devil on my shoulder hopes that we have not moved on from those sorts of US Opens for good, the angel says it's a positive thing for the game that the USGA has gotten their hands around how to make US Open courses a stern yet fair test.

With that being said, today we are talking about some of those US Opens that weren't so "stern yet fair" and were either more in the category of supremely stern or in a few cases, perhaps just downright south of fair. For the fan, one of the great byproducts of an event that gets a little ridiculous is the response from the players. The US Mid Am, also affectionately known as simply "The Mid." A collection of guys who can definitely still play, don't take things too seriously, and are most definitely just #happytobethere.

Pleased to have No Laying Up's Neil Schuster join the pod today to discuss some of the physical challenges he's taken on in the last few years and why he is inclined to set goals and seek challenges.

We talk a lot about how particularly as former athletes, as we reach adult life, there are not as many goals and challenges that we are faced with and ho important it is to make a point of seeking those things.

Not only are physical and athletic goals a great way to stay in shape, but the positive externalities on those around us as well as in other areas of our lives are apparent and are as much of a reason as any to get things on the calendar.

Lastly, we discuss the power of consistency and how it is crucial to anything in life. Be it fitness, relationships, business, or anything else, finding consistency is crucial to progress and physical goals are a great way to practice this skill.

We're sticking our necks out a bit today to share our takes on courses we think sit somewhere in the rankings they maybe shouldn't. While The Tie Course Reviews typically are not so much about rankings, we can't refer to a place as being overrated, underrated, or properly rated if we don't talk about where they sit in rankings.

While ranking a course for everyone is a hard thing to do as not everyone is going to see a course in the same way and want the same things out of it, we did try today to think about each of these courses from multiple perspectives and not just our own so that we could speak fairly confidently on our opinions here.
