One of the best interviews in Pro Golf, today we sit down with Maverick McNealy to hear all about his life as a golfer, as well as his life NOT as a golfer.  Maverick is one of the most thoughtful, detail oriented players you will ever come across which everyone will certainly gather from this episode. Especially if you are a young golfer trying to get better, this episode has tons of information on how to approach the entire package that it takes to improve. Maverick has gotten better every year on tour and there is no question as to why when you hear about how granular of an approach he takes to every aspect of performance as a golfer and person.

Outside of golf, Maverick has also gotten into flying and is currently pursuing his private pilots' license. I think everyone will really enjoy hearing how Maverick feels flying is contributing to his life as a golfer and providing for a nice balance to his day job.

To finish, we get into another of Maverick's passions, cooking. Always a favorite topic at The Tie, Maverick lets us in on some of his favorite meals to cook at home, weekly food prep and consumption on the road, and a few noteworthy pieces of commentary on the ever present Cava vs. Chipotle debate.

Fired up to be joined by Sam Williams from Cookie Jar Golf to discuss a budget golf trip through the heathland of England, A lot gets discussed with regard to golf in the UK, but we often only focus on the big name links courses and forgot how much great golf there is to be played just outside London, and on quite the budget.

Sam put together 2 trips for us. One of which was super cheap 5 course rota that realistically could be knocked out in just a few days, and the second was still easily under a $1500 budget and at some really high quality courses.

These are courses that you really should take note of as this trip can be done in 3 days or so and is very accessible from London. I think people often are hesitant to go over seas due to cost, time, and difficulty of travel, but this trip that Sam laid out for us is none of those things.

Every year, it gets cold. I know, it sucks. Golf is just better when its nice and warm, the body is loose, and the ball is flying far and sure. But, unfortunately there is a time and place to get out there and see what you've got when all of that goes out the window. While setting the clubs aside during the winter months is respectable, we don't recommend it. #PICKLEPOD. Some of you may remember Tadd Fujisawa as the 15 year old hawaiian who qualified for the 2006 US Open then made the cut in the 2007 Sony Open in Hawaii. Well, Tadd would go on to play more than 10 years of pro golf after that only to be found by  a new passion that is now his full time gig, Pro Pickleball.

Tadd is the head pickle ball pro at Sea Island and also travels around to some professional pickle ball tournaments to compete against other pros. As a total novice to what is now the fastest growing sport in america. This episode was basically a tutorial on the game to me, so if you are ready to get into the pickle scene, this episode may be for you! Hope everyone enjoys. Lukas is back!

Always a blast talking to Lukas about golf course architecture AND competition. As we stand in late November 2022, both paths are still an option. As he gears up for a heavy summer with Australia's best events, 7 Mile Beach in Tasmania awaits his return.

We go over the project, which is located about 15 minutes from the Hobart airport- nearly 3 hours closer than its predecessor, Barnbougle. We discuss what it's like learning from different approaches on site-- the Mikes (DeVries and Clayton) being the primary architects running the show.

Lukas talks about having a shaping team of accomplished golfers, the autonomy and responsibility given on site (particularly with the practice facility at 7MB), and what it's like learning to build features more efficiently.
