On Valentines Day 1976, 31 year old Helen Hooper disappeared from her home in Broken Green in Hertfordshire. She tucked her 3 sons into their beds and abruptly vanished. Her bank accounts lay untouched and she never contacted her family again. Her husband Walter claimed she left with another man that morning but Hertfordshire police would later dig deeper into this story. Helen still hasn't been found and her case is still unsolved.

On the 23rd of June 1958, the body of 61 year old Harry Baker was found wrapped in two sacks just over a wire fence by the A50 roadside near Knutsford in Cheshire. His beaten and battered body made him almost unrecognisable. Links were made by 5 different police forces and he was eventually identified. He had disappeared from his rounds working as a credit draper in the town of Bootle in Merseyside over 2 weeks before. Who had killed this meticulous and caring man, where had it happened and why?

In June 2018, 43 year old Naheed Khan's family were worried about her. They hadn't seen her in several weeks and she hadn't contacted them at all. This was very out of character for her especially as she was about to become a grandmother. Cleveland police got involved and her missing person investigation soon turned into a presumed murder.

On November the 28th 2004, the Wilson family were like every other family with small children across the world. It was bath time, story time and bed time but this night would be different. At around 7pm, a man knocked on their door in Nairn in Scotland and gunned down 30 year old Alistair Wilson on his doorstep. One of the longest running investigations would ensue and throw up more questions than answers.

In April 1992, 53 year old business man Michael Schallamach failed to attend a business meeting in the Netherlands and simply disappeared. His wife Yvonne received a letter not long after informing her that he had left her for a woman named Helen and that he wasn't coming back. This letter wasn't true and in fact would link Michael's disappearance to the murder of an entire family 10 years later.

On this episode of 5 minutes with I decided to do something different as we were celebrating our 200th episode this month. I decided to answer the 5 minutes with questions that I have asked lots of other people to answer! It was more difficult than I thought it would be.

Listen in next month for 5 minutes with someone else from the True Crime Community.
