She would later be diagnosed with bipolar disorder and, with time, learn to overcome stigma, and eventually find peace and learn to live a successful and meaningful life.

Kate resides in Minnesota with her boyfriend, Ricky, and their two labradoodles, Teddy and Winnie. When she is not writing or journaling, she can be found traveling or at her family’s cabin. She is an advocate for mental health and suicide prevention awareness. Out of the Darkness is her first book.

  • EP 5: A Mindset for Wellness with Bipolar

    Send us a message!

In this episode I share the three major mindset shifts that will help you live well with your disorder:

    • It's normal to grieve when you are diagnosed with bipolar. Allow yourself to grieve without getting stuck in grief.
    • Stop comparing yourself to other people--or to who you thought you were or should be--with tips on how to love and value yourself as you are.
    • The recovery cycle with bipolar mirrors the recovery cycle of addiction. Understanding this cycle helps you successfully manage your bipolar.
    • Utilize a Mood Cycle Survival Guide to successfully manage your mood swings.
