The Villain Was Right

This week on the podcast we're talking about the 2025 Best Picture winner ANORA. We're cataloging the long list of red flags raised by her husband Ivan and arguing that the trio of goons/babysitters forcing her to get a divorce actually have her best interest in mind.

This week on the podcast we're covering our MOST requested TV show, the children's cartoon PHINEAS AND FERB. We're siding with the perpetually gas-lit Candace - who really just wants her brothers to be safe - and defending Dr. Doofenshmirtiz whose "evil" plots range from harmless to largely practical.

For this month's Audience Choice episode we're going all the way back to 2002 and talking about the original live action SPIDER-MAN. We're talking about THAT kiss (almost immediately), defending the mentally ill Norman Osborne and agreeing with J. Jonah Jameson that a masked boy swinging through the city like a wrecking ball, leaving his goo everywhere, is in fact a "menace."

This week we're joined by special guest Luke Gordon Field from The Beaverton (@TheBeaverton) to talk about THE USUAL SUSPECTS. We talk about the iconic twist and try to piece together what actually happened all to answer the question: Was Keyser Soze really all that bad? Or was he just maintaining order in the chaotic and violent criminal underworld?

We're wrapping up our "Kinda Romantic Movie Month" with one of the most iconic romance movies of all time - TITANIC. We're discussing how Rose is an unreliable narrator and defending Billy Zane's character who mostly seems angry that Rose won't get on the !@/&ing lifeboat.

"Kinda Romantic Movie Month" continues with the classic 90's rom-com THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY. We're debating which of Mary's obsessive suitors deserves her the least and debating the morality of looking up someone from your past. Plus the whole 'hair-gel' thing.

It's time for the "Audience Choice" portion of "Kinda Romantic Movie Month" - our Patreon supporters voted and so this week we're discussing the Patrick Dempsey led rom-com MADE OF HONOR. We talk about the largely nonsensical spelling of the title, the film's narrow view of gender roles and of course defend Colin - the unquestionably perfect Scottish Duke and liquor baron who has his wedding ruined by a selfish, emotionally immature American.

We're kicking off "Kinda Romantic Movie Month" with the highly requested animated movie -THE SWAN PRINCESS. We're defending Rothbart - a soft spoken magician, dedicated to overthrowing a corrupt monarchy, and ripping into one of the most idiotic princes ever to grace the screen. Plus why being turned into a swan wouldn't be all that bad.
