The Walking Dead 'Cast

Our third annual Comic-Con and WD trailer extravaganza, and damn there was a ton of stuff that came out of Comic Con this year, a lot of it really interesting. Maybe this year I finally picked some things to talk about that'll end up being good.... Anyway, join me, Rima, and Shawn as we talk about the TWD/FTWD trailers, news, and all the pop-culture goodness that we're excited about.

Cnet did a great thing and put all the trailers that came out of Comic-Con on a single web page here. Highly recommend checking it out! https://www.cnet.com/news/every-comic-con-san-diego-2019-trailer-scary-stories-to-tell-in-the-dark-picard-the-witcher-rick-and-morty-cats-top-gun-it-2/

The story arc of the irradiated child-filled land beyond the mountains comes to a close, and Lucy and I actually found a lot to like about this last installment. But don't worry, we also have plenty of items for the Dept. of the Suspension of Disbelief too :)

I liked this week's episode better than last, which isn't saying much! But guest cohost Karen Fahr and I found a lot to talk about. Like all the characters on FTWD, we're here to help.

IMO this week's FTWD was one of the worst episodes of anything in the entire Walking Dead universe thus far. Stinker!! But I and guest hosts Pake and Megan make lemonade out of these sour lemons by suspending our usual habit of approaching the show from a place of appreciation and instead we have fun full-on thrashing it! (And okay, Pake and Megan actually managed to find a few good things too.) Hope you enjoy.

Note: I (Jason) am considering finishing out the half-season on this show and then just doing one FTWD-related podcast every eight episodes. Then maybe we'll pick up a different show during the TWD hiatus, or cover movies. Let me know if you have thoughts about that.

Interesting episode, focused only on a couple of characters (and only one main FTWD character) and not furthering the FTWD plot along much, but definitely giving clues into an overarching TWD universe story. Lucy and I found a lot to like about this one!

As E.T. would say, ooouuuch. We couldn't let recent events in The Walking Dead comic go by without some acknowledgment and discussion on the podcast. If you're a WD comic reader, you know what I'm talking about. So here's Derek, Lucy, Shawn, and Jason to talk it out.

Here it is, the first episode of The Jason & Karen Show. We think it's delightfully random, and fun, and it's filled with stuff we're interested in, and nothing we're not. You guys said you'd listen to us talk about anything. Here you go! :)

In this particular episode we talk about the freakin’ hilarious FX vampire comedy, What We Do in the Shadows, plus the Impossible Burger, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, Data-from-Star-Trek’s inability to use contractions, X-Men, our cats, the merits of death, and whether Columbine High should be torn down, among other things. Like any good potent dopamine booster, this first one is free. To hear subsequent episodes, you gotta sign up for Patreon at the $5 level or above at patreon.com/jasonandkaren. We'll have another episode out in a week or so covering the new Jim Jarmusch/Bill Murry zed movie, The Dead Don't Die (and other fun stuff).

And to get serious for a second, this podcast is a patron exclusive as a thank you to all you guys supporting our podcasting, and as a perk to get more of you on board so we can keep doing it. So if you like what we're doing and think it's worth paying a bit for, we thank you for helping us continue on!

Again, want more episodes? Or just want to help support our podcasting? Then go sign up at the $5 or higher level at patreon.com/jasonandkaren. Thank you!

PS If you're looking for our Walking Dead 'Cast episode covering FTWD S5E2, it's in the feed right before this one.

PPS Credit to Ben Beck for the idea for our Pop-Up Topic segment where we get a listener-submitted topic but we don't find out what it is until we're recording.

Attack of the toxic zeds this week, which sounds like a much more exciting concept than it ended up being (for a lot of us anyway). Rima and Jason did find a few things to like about the episode. Enjoy!

PS You may have noticed the first episode of the Jason and Karen Show in your podcast feed. It's finally out! We had a lot of fun recording it, and playing around with different ideas. Hope you guys dig it :)
