The TUT Solar Car has arrived successfully in Namibia. The Tshwane University of Technology's faculty of Engineering has embarked on a 2153 kilometer road trip to Namibia, to test state of the art equipment on their fourth generation solar car, named the Sun Chaser. The bi-annual project is used to assists the institution in grooming work ready students. Protea men's head coach... Mark Boucher and his legal representatives have met with the chairperson of his disciplinary hearing, Adv Terry Motau, to thrash out the timetable for the legal proceedings. Cricket SA is seeking Boucher's dismissal, submitted a seven page charge sheet to the Proteas head coach. In it he's been charged with 'gross misconduct,' stemming from the findings of the Social Justice and Nation Building report and specifically he and other national team members calling Paul Adams with derogatory terms as part of a team song. The Proteas team is travelling to New Zealand on Wednesday, ahead of the two match Test series with the World Test Champions

They were first introduced to the South African Police Service as Reserve Police, Wardens and are now Security Officers, but still to be provided with proper training and remuneration. The men and women known as Security Officers at SAPS say they have been battling since 2015 to get a solution to their predicament from the Ministry of Police with no success.

The SABC has dismissed it's head of news Phatiswa Magopeni. She was found guilty late last year of failing to prevent the broadcast, airing and publication of an interdicted story. Magopeni was facing three charges which included failure to discharge her fiduciary duties as well as bringing disrepute to the public broadcaster. The charges related to the airing of an interdicted Special Assignment Programme. Magopeni says she has engaged her lawer and will challenge what she calls a grossly unfair dismissal.

Legendary Actor Patrick Shai is an example of a person who displayed that human beings are not perfect but can be transformed. These are the sentiments of the South African Federation of Trade Union General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi. Shai has also been described as an extraordinary human being by National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and NCOP Chairperson Amos Masondo. The African Transformation Movement and COPE have also paid tribute to Shai who passed away yesterday (Saturday)

Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for suspects following the fatal shooting of a female deputy principal at Phomolong Secondary School in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni. The woman was shot and killed in her vehicle while driving out of the school's gate. Police say the motive for the shooting is unclear.

South Africa is reeling following the passing of veteran actor Patrick Shai who died in the early hours of yesterday (Saturday morning). The multi-lingual Shai whose roots can be traced back to Bolobedu in Limpopo, will be remembered by his role in some of SABC's best dramas such as Bophelo Ke Sephekgo, 7 de Laan, Generations and Zone 14.

As the ANC leadership contest intensifies, long-time political allies President Cyril Ramaphosa and NEC Member Lindiwe Sisulu have now turned erstwhile political enemies. Sisulu has openly defied President Cyril Ramaphosa by refusing to withdraw the negative comments in her opinion piece on the Judiciary and suggesting that the president lied in his statement. She also accused the Presidential media team of mischievously and deliberately misrepresenting the contents of her meeting with the president.

The parents of Leigh Matthews say the man who killed their daughter - Donovan Moodley continues to show no remorse almost two decades after the murder. Rob and Sharon Matthews made oral submissions at the Johannesburg Correctional Services as part of the Parole hearing of convicted murderer Moodley. Moodley abducted Leigh Matthews at Bond University in 2004. Her body was found in Walkerville on Gauteng's Midvaal. She was 21 years old.

The ACDP says it's disappointed at the Judicial Conduct Appeals Committee's decision to uphold the findings of the Judicial Conduct Committee against former Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.  The Appeals Committee concurred with the JCC's decision for Mogoeng to issue an unconditional apology for his pro Israel comments. He was found guilty by the Judicial Conduct Committee following a complaint that was laid by the South African Boycott Divestment Sactions Coalition, Africa4Palestine and Women's Cultural Group. Mogoeng made the pro Israel comments at a webinar hosted by an Israeli newspaper the Jerusalem Post  in June  2020.
