The Hawks have declared Ajay Gupta a fugitive from justice after he failed to present himself to the Hawks as agreed between his lawyer and the crime-busting unit. He is one of the three Gupta brothers accused of corrupt links with former president Jacob Zuma. The Hawks have appealed to Ajay to turn himself in. It was reported that another brother, Atul, had tried to evade arrest by leaving the country. However, his attempt to flee was foiled when the pilot refused to fly a private jet from Lanseria Airport. The Northern Cape province has been abuzz with spectacular scene's by the military. This in the build-up to Armed Forces Day on the 21st, in memory of the sinking of the SS Mendi in English Channel on that day in 1917.
