In dieser Folge erzählt Annika von den Geburten ihrer beiden Kinder. Sie spricht davon, welche persönlichen Voraussetzungen sie besonders unterstützt haben und warum ihr die Zeit nach der Geburt so am Herzen liegt.

Annika ist Mutter von zwei Kindern, Doula und ausgebildete Physiotherapeutin. In ihrer Praxis Become Mom am ruhigen Berliner Stadtrand in Kleinmachnow begleitet sie Frauen achtsam durch Schwangerschaft, vorbereitend auf die Geburt und im Wochenbett – mit einem tiefen Vertrauen in die innere Stärke jeder Frau .

Ein besonderes Herzensanliegen ist ihr die Begleitung der Muttertät – jener tiefgreifenden körperlichen, emotionalen und geistigen Umwandlung, die mit Schwangerschaft und Mutterschaft einhergeht und die weit über das Wochenbett hinausgeht.

Mit ihrem Buch „The Art of Growing – A Creative Journey into Motherhood“ unterstützt Annika Frauen dabei, diesen Weg bewusst zu gehen.

I can get quite engaged and emotional in these conversations, too, so I totally know what it feels like when someone has a completely different view on something as fundamental as birth. BUT I've also been feeling very protective around friends, clients and people I care for who have chosen to birth in ways that are being judged by others.

Isn't the essence of women's empowerment that we respect women and see them as fully capable and autonomous beings? How come it seems to be especially women who do not give other women that trust?! Something to think about...

Having opinions is natural and human, but the way birth is judged and categorized does not serve anyone, least of all the birthing mothers and babies.

In this episode I share some of my thoughts that I've been having for a while around all these opinions that  are out there and the different camps around the birth space aka natural birth, hospital birth, free birth, homebirth, choosing c-sections and all the options in between all of these.

P.S. : My upcoming workshop 'EMBODIED EMPOWERMENT' is directed specifically to that. Tuning in, dropping into our uniqueness and finding what is right for each individual woman, based on her values, desires and circumstances.

Shame is something most of us (all of us?!) carry and that plays out in tricky, unconscious and most of the time not very beneficial ways in our day-to-day lives. We can choose to ignore that and brush over the vulnerability of looking at our shame or we can begin to look at, see and hear and fall in love with the aspects of ourselves that we have created stories, limiting beliefs and stored deep deep emotions around.

In dieser Folge teilt Katharina die Geburtsgeschichte ihres ersten Kindes - eine sehr schnelle Hausgeburt, die Katharina selbst nicht unbedingt als schmerzhaft beschreiben würde.

Die Kunst begleitet Katharina schon seitdem sie denken kann. In ihrer Malerei verarbeitet sie Gefühle und Traumata. In ihren letzten Arbeiten hat sie sich mit ihrer Familiengeschichte befasst. Nun ist sie selber Mutter und schreibt ihre Familiengeschichte weiter. In der Schwangerschaft und auch in der Mutterschaft ist sie so stark wie noch nie mit ihren Gefühlen verbunden, somit landen sie kaum noch auf die Leinwand :) Sie ist aber zuversichtlich, dass sich das auch wieder ändern wird.
