  • #25: John Power from Cast talks tour + new album "Kicking Up The Dust"
Cast first appeared on the scene in the mid 90s during the Britpop era with a string of top ten singles and the classic 'All Change' album. It became the highest selling debut album in the history of the Polydor label.

Cast released 3 more albums before going their separate ways just after the release of their experimental album 'Beetroot'. They reconvened in 2012 and released the acclaimed 'Troubled Times' album, and will release their next record 'Kicking Up the Dust' early 2017. Cast are now in the middle of an extensive UK tour.

This weeks featured track is from American rock band Con Etiquette. Con Etiquette formed in the fall of 2014 following a tattoo session by drummer Mikey on frontman Antonino. The two discussed current and past music projects, varying greatly in styles and genres, from acoustic alternative to grind-core. The two started revisiting some solo tunes from Antonino's solo ep "Profound", and the collective unique styles from the two flowed very naturally.

After a few weeks of jams and writing sessions the two were joined by Vin on guitar, who had a background in heavier metal bands, and later by Brian on bass, who also had a metal background. Surprisingly all of the unique attributes from each of the members, blended into an organic way to develop their own eclectic sound. The result is the debut album "Resulting In…". • #21: Crispian Mills (Kula Shaker) talks 20th Anniversary of 'K'
Welcome to episode #21 of the XS Noise Music Podcast with Mark Millar. On This weeks show Mark Millar is joined by Kula Shaker front-man Crispian Mills to talk about the 20th anniversary reissue of their debut album "K" and the forthcoming live shows.

Following the release of their latest album K 2.0 earlier this year, Kula Shaker have announced a 20th Anniversary Edition of their debut album 'K' for release on BMG on 28th October 2016. With a blend of 60s rocking, Britpop and Indian mysticism, 'K' was born from the influences of George Harrison, The Grateful Dead, The Kinks, Deep Purple and the Doors. The album combined an onslaught of volume, overdriven guitars, and catchy melodies resulting in an album that remains an excellent blast of colourful neo-psychedelia. It produced four classic hit singles 'Grateful When You're Dead', 'Tattva', 'Hey Dude' and 'Govinda' which still receive regular airplay today.

The band will be playing the album in its entirety at the dates alongside songs from their following four albums. The release is a celebration of a stunning debut (which stormed to No.1 on its release – the fastest selling debut of the year – and went on to sell over two million copies worldwide) – but also reminds us of a great British band who, on their reformation have continued to excite and inspire fans all over the world. Far from gazing at the past, their confidence and continued success means they can commemorate this fantastic part of their history whilst forging ahead with new and innovative music and plans.

This weeks featured band are The Dirty Clergy a garage rock/pop band Formed in 2009 in Winfield, Alabama, whose music has been described as vintage rock, indie rock, and "indie rock pop'n'roll" The inspiration for their music and the roots of the band certainly lie in the heart of when rock and roll was at the forefront of music.

The Dirty Clergy's catchy choruses, smooth harmonies, and pop hooks recall the youthful exuberance of the 50s and early 60s, when rock 'n' roll was synonymous with rebellion, while the punkish, grungy rhythm guitar, active drumming, and impassioned singing provide an urgent, hard edge. Formed in 2009 in Winfield, Alabama the band now consists of songwriter/guitarist Brian Manasco, Brad White on vocals, Joshua Pope on guitar, Ky Carter on Bass, and Cody Moorehead on drums. However, the band originally started out as a two piece folk band with Brian Manasco and Tyler Evans writing mostly protest songs. It wasn't until July 2010 they formed a full fledged rock and roll band. Get in touch: [email protected]

  • #17: Wayne Hussey – The Mission discusses new album 'Another Fall From Grace'
On this weeks XS Noize Music Podcast Mark Millar talks to Wayne Hussey from The Mission. The Mission release their new album, "Another Fall From Grace" on 30th September 2016. Another Fall From Grace was produced by Wayne Hussey and Tim Palmer and features guest backing vocals from Gary Numan, Martin Gore (Depeche Mode), Ville Valo (HIM), Julianne Regan (All About Eve) & Evi Vine.

"For me, this new Mission album is the long lost missing link between the Sisters Of Mercy's First & Last & Always and The Mission's God's Own Medicine, both albums of course that I was heavily involved in making. I set out this time with the intention of making an album that sounds like 1985. The fact that I feel this has largely been achieved is down to my renewed love for the jingle jangle shimmer of the electric 12 string guitar which featured heavily on those two previously mentioned albums and now the new Mission album."

This weeks featured track is Chick Quest. The initial concept behind Chick Quest was to combine chord progressions from old 60's Italian Western film scores, such as work by Ennio Morricone, with the dancey Post-Punk of the late 70's and early 80's like Talking Heads, B52's, Manicured Noise or The Clash. The band name itself is a nod to cheesy 60's B-film titles and is meant to be taken as "A girl on a quest" as opposed to "Guys on a quest for chicks".
