''There Are Techniques That Make Learning Factual Information Easier'' ~ Memory Expert
Charles Garavan is a lecturer and Author and an expert in improving the ability to learn factual information. He pointed out that information that is being used gets ''deleted'' from the brain, similar to a computer. Garavan states that if sufficient attention is paid to something than the more likely it is to be properly stored in the brain, thus making it easier to recall this information at a future date. The lecturer stresses that attention is the signal to the brain that a piece of information is important. When we do tasks over and over again, the brain switches into autopilot as this requires less energy consumption for the brain. Garavan was able to memorize a book with 4,000 names effectively for charity using his memorization techniques.
