In this episode, I riff on a line from Dead Poets Society that's shaped how I live and lead: "suck the marrow out of life." A young entrepreneur told me his business was so dialed that there was "nothing left to do." My response? If you think there's nothing to do, you've already checked out. That's not leadership that's sedation. You didn't build a company; you built a beach house with nobody in it. Growth isn't just about revenue or SOPs, it's about refusing to go numb.
When the business hums, the real work starts: becoming. Sharpen your leadership. Learn a new skill. Be fully present with your people. Go roll in jiu-jitsu, study a craft, build a new competency that makes you dangerous in another arena. Boredom isn't a quirk; it's a warning light that your vision is too small. The happiest, highest-performing people I know aren't addicted to doing, they're addicted to becoming. They hunt purpose daily.
This is your gut check: if your days feel too easy, you're not playing a big enough game. Don't confuse autopilot with arrival. Take your purpose seriously, your people seriously, but not yourself so seriously that you forget to actually live. There is always something to do. Pick the next mission, raise the bar, and move like your life depends on it because it does.
Welcome to The Spinoso Podcast hosted by CEO, doctor, comic book geek, and car guy, Alex Spinoso. I help people and companies grow - especially in the medical business. While my experience and expertise is in scaling all types of medical businesses to 7, 8, 9-figures or more, I can be a mentor to anyone who wants to take ownership of their lives, become a better leader at home and at work, and overcome any obstacle that stands in their way.
