Is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints A Cult? Is it Transphobic? Does it protect child molesters? Beau Oyler is a former Latter-day Saint who recently went on @SoftWhiteUnderbelly a channel with almost 7 million subscribers. I think this interview is a case study in the sort of story telling interviews ex mormons often give and why they so often can be deeply problematic.

“In a surprising finding, Mormon LGBs report better mental health than non-Mormon LGBs, while their self-rated and physical health is not significantly different. However, there is some evidence that Mormon LGBs derive fewer health benefits from church attendance than their non-LGB Mormon counterparts”https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27633... Health Religion and Culture “Active Mormons reported having the best health status and, consequently, the lowest levels of mental illness.https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/1...

The suicide rate among active Latter-day Saint youth was lower than it was for peers from 1991-1995 when Rhetoric against homosexual behavior was far harsher than today. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11867...
The other day Joe Heschmeyer released a video critiquing arguments made for the Book of Mormon by comparing similar arguments made for the Koran. But does Joe have a point? Are the arguments for the Book of Mormon no better than arguments for the Koran? My friend Luke Hanson from Ward Radio sent me over some of his thoughts, and frankly, I think after watching this you will see how Joes argument backfires big time.

So the other day I decided I wanted to watch the most popular video on YouTube critical of the church. And what came up in the results was a video by Johnny Harris. Johnny is a very popular, talented and charismatic YouTube journalist. He also is an ex-mormon and this was his video explaining why he left the church.
