Sharing your faith … with words

Series: How do I share my faith?

Questions to reflect on and discuss from this message:

1. What’s been your experience of sharing your faith in words: either your sharing, or someone sharing with you?

2. Grab a piece of paper and make a few notes to capture “your story”: how was your life before or without following Jesus; what made you follow Jesus; how is your life different now because of Jesus - how is it ‘better’? Have a go.

3. Now try writing some notes to help you explain “His story”: God’s love for all people; our sin and mess; Jesus’ solution; our response. Do it with a friend and practice it together. if you can’t find a friend, practice in the mirror. Have a go!

Why do Christians share their faith

Series: How do I share my faith?

Questions to reflect on and discuss from this message:

1. What’s the first thing you think about when you hear someone talking about “sharing your faith”? Scared? Awkward? Excited? What?

2. How does hearing Jesus described as “the saviour of the world” make you think about sharing your faith? Different? No different? How and why?

3. Paul says he was “compelled” to share his faith. What would have to happen for you to feel compelled to share your faith? It could be anything … “God would have to do this …”, “I would have to feel that …”, “I would need someone else to do…”. There’s no right answer. Be honest. Have a go.

God’s Eternal Kingdom

In his first public speech Jesus said, I’ve come to bring a new Kingdom to earth … but it wasn’t a kingdom like anyone expected. Today we look at Jesus’ teaching about “worry” and ask why Jesus would say “there’s no reason to worry in the Kingdom of God”.

Living life to please the King

The Secret to Success … Jesus Style

Jesus begins his most famous teaching by redefining success. His words turned everything his listeners knew upside down … and they are still turning our ideas of success upside down today. In this message we examine success ‘Jesus style’, and ask ourselves what that looks like for us in the 21st century.

What is the Kingdom of God

Most people don’t live in a world ruled by a king. Even those kings that do exist today are mostly kind figureheads. Jesus grew up in a world where kings ruled and kingdoms fought and he came into the world announcing “the kingdom of God is near”. What is the Kingdom of God and what did Jesus mean when he talked about the Kingdom of God?

JOY

Many people think Christian faith is serious and boring, yet the writers of the Bible use the word JOY over 400 times. What is Christian JOY and how do we find it in a world that seems so full of sadness and hate?

Our grace to ourselves

Grace is a word that gets used a lot around churches. But what does grace really mean, and more importantly, how should it affect the way we live? Last week we talked about sharing God’s grace with others. For many of us, one of the people we most need to give God’s grace to … is ourselves! In this message we explore what it means to be gracious with ourselves and how we can do it.

1. Can you think of a time when you were gracious with yourself? When are you tempted to be least gracious to yourself?

2. What words that God speaks about you are most important for you to hear?
