Don't be fooled by the ominous title, this show is as family friendly as it gets. It follows Hilde Lisko and her friends, a trio of young investigative journalists, in their pursuit to uncover the truth behind the contamination of Erie Harbor lake. The show boasts a big cast (Jim Sturgess, Brooklyn Prince, Abby Miller...) but its most impressive feature is that it is based on the actual life of Hilde Lysiak, a girl who broke a murder news story at 9 years old, and is currently the youngest member of the Society of Professional Journalists.

The Mysterious Benedict Society is a Disney Plus YA adventure series based on the novels of Trenton Lee Stewart about four children, a boarding school, an eccentric benefactor, and a plot to destroy the world. 

Based on the 2007 novel of the same name, this is a family friendly story reminiscent to A Series of Unfortunate Events. It was produced under Hulu but moved to Disney (Since they're a majority stakeholder) and we talk about the first two episodes in this podcast.

Kevin Can F**k Himself, or Kevin Can F... Himself a meta-fiction black comedy that splits time between being a sitcom and drama. It’s been compared to WandaVision for its satirizing, reality bending, “things aren’t the way they seem to be” plot. 

Valerie Armstrong, best known for her work as story editor on Lodge 49, first conceived of the show in 2017 around the time that Erinn Hayes was fired unceremoniously from Kevin James’ show Kevin Can Wait.  

She pitched her idea to AMC and worked tandem with executive producers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack to get the show underway. 

The trailer led to a lot of speculation for what this series could do. We discuss the first two episodes in the podcast. Listen in if you're interested!

This 2021 revival of one of Nickelodeon's most successful series from the late-aughts, starring Miranda Cosgrove as the titular character (Carly Shay), plays more like a return from a long hiatus than a reboot. Seriously, wasn't 2012 like yesterday?
