    Caddy Cold
The book was good with the exception of the stepdaughter being involved. That is why I rated it 4 stars. The stepdaughter is a hindrance to the story. Leaving on a trip during school. Acting spoiled etc, etc, etc ad nauseam. Leave her out and develop better characters to replace her please leave her @ Home where she belongs.

    Mystery at Caddo Lake
Thank you for this mysterious story that started as seeming to be a UFO event, but then turned into an Army event. The storyline and characters held my attention and the ending was justified.
    Consecration
This mystery tends to touch quite a bit more reality than typically the fantasy of previous endeavors. I often wonder when reading your "Authors Note" is you might do well writing a work of fiction that touches the realities of this world such as philosophy, the deep bond of soul mates, the psychic needs of one to be with the world as is given. Perhaps the futile quest of a person to know another who has a commitment to the next group of lives who will endure that which is continuously desiccated by others who are shallow.
    Much better
I got a little worried that it was taking a sci fi turn, but that got covered ans got back to Texas and shootem up amateur lawman. Well done in the end.
And To Think Some People Think Handling Money Is A Nice, Safe, Boring Job...They Just Have Never Met Bill Travis
"Caddo Cold" is the 7th book in the Bill Travis series by George Wier and I must say this series just gets better and better. This book starts out with Bill trying to get a hold of one of his clients, Holt Gatlin, to give him the good news that he can officially retire or retire for the 2nd time, depending on how one wants to look at it. Bill needs to give Holt the good news and also he needs Holt to tell him what he wants done with him money. Bill learns that Holt is in the hospital, barely making it through from a fall off a roof. He finally gets Holt on the phone and Holt utters a few scary words to Bill. Bill decides that he has to drive over to see Holt personally because of what he just told him. When he gets home he tells his wife that Holt was in the hospital, what his condition was, and that he needed Holt to sign some type of will to state what he wanted to do with his money in case he doesn't make it. Of course his wife does not totally believe him as she suspects there is more to it than what Bill has told her so she sends their oldest daughter Jessica with him in hopes that by having his daughter with him it will minimize the trouble he could get into. So off Bill and Jessica go, driving towards Bill's next big adventure.
If you have never read a book by George Wier then you do not know what you are missing. I am always checking for his latest and when he has it out I immediately hit my buy button than proceed to devour it in one setting.

    Different!
I gave this book a high rating based almost solely on the last couple chapters - what a twist! It was not an overly exciting book and I almost didn't finish it but now I'm glad I did. The story winds around a reunion of sorts in a shabby holiday cottage with a few not very likeable old friends. At times I felt sorry for the main character and at other times I wanted to shake her. Once I got used to the accent, the narration was good. This is quite a different book from the usual "who done it" and it may be just be too drawn out for some. It takes place mainly over a 2 week period and there were spots where I just wonted to skip over the filler and get some action. Overall 4 stars for an ending that I didn't see coming.
    what a twist!!!!
I really would recommend this book. it started off catching my interest and it's not an overly exciting book but it really is good I was a little concerned when I read the reviews because so many people said it was really boring and obvious. I didn't think it was,it was really good and the story line is a bit long but it didn't effect the book much at all in a negative way
    Kept me listening
Good twist to it! Looked forward to listening to it at night and it kept me interested.

    Publisher's Summary:
"A riveting tale of warfare in the not too distant future. Tucker takes his technological know-how as a former nuclear submariner and masterfully weaves it into a sensational thriller that will leave you pondering the land- and sea-scape of armed conflicts yet to come. A gifted writer first, Tucker seamlessly maintains the perfect balance between exhilarating story-telling and edifying prose. Superb novel!" (R. Cameron Cooke, author of Pride Runs Deep)
One day in the not too distant future, Pete Hamlin regains consciousness deep inside the nuclear submarine Polaris. He's got a gun in his hand, a fire raging outside his door, and a dead man at his feet. Soon Pete discovers that the ship is in the middle of a mutiny - and he has no idea what side he's on.
He finds the ship is now commanded by the beautiful but volatile Hana Moody. She's locked the former captain, Finn McCallister, inside a steel trunk, accusing him of treason. Frank Holmes is Moody's loyalist, an imposing physical presence who shares Moody's unquestioning devotion to the cause of the Alliance. The ship's feckless doctor hovers in the background, unable to help Pete find out the truth about the Polaris. And outside the ship's steel hull lurks another submarine, yet another presence that might be either friend or deadly foe.
To save himself and discover the truth, Pete must journey with Polaris back to a forlorn piece of rock in the middle of a dangerous ocean: Eris Island. To get there he must fight murderous shipmates, a swarm of bomb-dropping drones, and a plague that is attacking everyone on both sides of a battle that Pete barely understands. Only on Eris Island does Hamlin finally learn the truth.

    A swing and a miss
"Sir, the enemy's drones are killing us!"
    "Where do they reload?"
"This island in the middle of nowhere"
"Two words: Cruise Missiles. Nuke that bad boy until it's a hole in the ocean. Bombers, cruise missiles, whatever it takes."
"Ummm.. why didn't anyone else think of that?"
Okay, obviously the sub stuff will be right, if not very, very dated. Everything else is so implausible that it really detracts from the narrative. The writing isn't bad, but the overall story just not as good as his first few (fiction and non-fiction). My fingers are firmly crossed that he goes in an entirely different direction with the next one, leaving usta-boat behind.
Technology adds to suspense and reality.
Emphasis on drone warfare made the book all the more realistic and a compelling novel. This reader was was concerned that yes most events in this book were possible and in all likelihood possible.
Time to retire this plot device (3.5 stars)
Of all the tired plot devices that should be retired, the protagonist who wakes up with a crucial memory loss and wonders what side of a conflict he supports is high on my list. It is rarely believable, particularly when the memory loss is used a convenient means of generating suspense that would otherwise be wanting. In the case of Polaris, even that device creates little suspense, despite some fast-moving action scenes.
Polaris is set some decades in the future, after global warming, war, and an epidemic have threatened to decimate the worldâs population.

    Language: English
    Release date: 05-17-16
    Publisher: Recorded Books
Ratings: 2.5 of 5 out of 7 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense
    Publisher's Summary:
An astonishing, even shocking debut - darker than a bad night in hell - that is written with both humor and heart by "a writer with abundant and scary gifts and consummate skill".
Set in a bitterly benighted, mine-polluted corner of Virginia, Nitro Mountain follows a group of people bound together by alcohol, small-time crime, and music. There's Leon, a hapless bass player who can embroil himself in trouble just by getting out of bed in the morning. And his would-be girlfriend, Jennifer, who's living with Arnett, the town's most dangerous thug - and hoping Leon will help poison him. And there's Arnett himself, a psychopath for the ages - albeit so charming and deranged, so strikingly authentic, that he arrests the listener's attention and holds it fast. His mirror image, a singer-songwriter named Jones, has his own moral issues, though at least he's trying to be a good man.
The bright if battered soul who pulls us through this story is Jennifer, struggling heroically to survive the endemic hopelessness and violence that have surrounded her since birth. Relentless? Yes. But nothing remotely gratuitous: only the pain and misery that inspire so much of the music these people love more than life itself.

Don't waste your time or money
This book has no real plot and is very dull. From the summary it seemed like it had promise, but unfortunately it missed the mark. I won't be reading this authors second book, if there is one.
you can't fix stupid, buy it is a heck of a read.
I loved this book. Lyrically written in spite of the grim details of unredeemable characters.

    Members Reviews:
When they say "write what you know" Anne Buist seems to have taken that advice very much to heart
When they say "write what you know" Anne Buist seems to have taken that advice very much to heart, especially when it comes to the clinical and working experience of her central character - Dr Natalie King. Hard to say about the Ducati, history of mental health problems and clothes sense.
MEDEA'S CURSE starts out in extreme acceleration mode with the back story of a contretemps on the steps of the Court, followed by an encounter with Crown Prosecutor (and later sex interest) Liam O'Shea, and the disappearance of a child. The father of the missing child was also the father of a dead baby, one that her mother had pleaded guilty to killing. That mother, Amber Hardy, is in prison, and both O'Shea and King aren't convinced she should be there. Hardy's story, her partner (and the father of both children) Travis, and his new daughter and partner are quickly expanded, along with that of another patient of King's, and from there the cast gets more complicated with work colleagues, fellow band members of King's, O'Shea as a love interest, the drummer of the band as a love interest, a mad cockatoo, the bike and Hardy's own therapist.
Needless to say, in the first half of this book readers will need to be paying attention. There's a lot of characters, a lot of back stories, a lot of interactions and a lot of health and welfare information imparted. King is a complicated person in her own right, what with her own mental health problems; a "friends with benefits" relationship; problems with work colleagues and patients; a strong sexual attraction to O'Shea (despite his being married); her relationship with (and tendency to try to snow) her own therapist; and a reckless disregard for her own safety - not just because she rides the Ducati.
To be fair though, paying really close attention might mean that some flaws become slightly over-obvious. Such as why she's somewhat blasé about her personal safety despite the increasingly threatening behaviour of a stalker. It's doubtful that I was the only reader screaming "security camera's..." for a big part of this book. Whilst it may be that much of the personal jeopardy elements of King's behaviour were not completely unbelievable, they did became increasingly frustrating. And then there was all that pet bird disregard.

    Always follow your Heart
I received this book from the author free of charge for an unbiased review. Thank you for the gift! Here After , through the excellent narration, jumps at you and grabs you into the plot. With the twist and turns and escalating mystery, you will not want to turn off the audio. Peter and Roger, strangers who meet at a bereavement meeting for those who have lost loved ones, get to know each other and their stories. Peter believes he has information to help Roger locate his six-year-old kidnapped son. By way of psychics and shady characters, the two find themselves in harm's way and danger but keep pushing themselves to find the little boy.
Yes, I will refer this book to friends. What a great read and a lesson to always follow your heart!
This one will really stick with you
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes I would. It is a complicated novel with multiple aspects such as paranormal, mystery, crime, angst and all manner of drama. It is almost overkill at times , but Costello pulls it off.
If youve listened to books by Sean Costello before, how does this one compare?
This is my first, but won't be my last. Certainly his reviews appear worth the investment of time and credits.
What does Timothy McKean bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
McKean really owns the characters, and is completely convincing in the depth of emotion he shows here. An outstanding performance.
Do you think Here After needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No, I think it wraps up the way we would want it to.
    Any additional comments?
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast.
I was going to download this one anyway, but the author approached me, so thanks! This is an outstanding offering. Maybe not the most uplifting of books I have heard in awhile mind you, but with enough thoughtfulness and rich characters, let alone concepts, that it leaves the listener fascinated and wanting more.
    Highly recommended.
    Killer Beginning!
The first couple of chapters were heartbreaking. And I really liked the paranormal aspects. I spent most of the last part of the story waiting for it to show up again. It kind of felt like the paranormal figure was a jerk for not making an effort when it would have mattered. That confused me.
    Keeps you guessing
I liked this book both the story and the narrator were great. The story keeps you guessing, leading you down one path but changing before you get bored.
