Tyler James Williams is a star on Abbott Elementary and he’s now Emmy nominated but he first blew up years ago on Everybody Hates Chris playing young Chris Rock. He’s a great comedic actor and a deep introvert and a very thoughtful person who loves to be alone with a book. We talk about acting and getting out of the child star trap and what it was like to have his father, a police officer, put him in handcuffs just so he’d know what it’s like.

Toure Show x Toure because I wrote another book, this one is called The Ivy League Counterfeiter and it’s about a friend of mine from high school who finished Columbia University and then became a professional counterfeiter. He made money by photocopying it. Insane story of private schools, underworld dreams, fake money, prostitution, and an unforgettable, charismatic man. The book is available as an ebook or an audio book on Scribd. My friend Danielle Moodie did the honor of interviewing me. Right now in Iran we are witnessing a massive revolution—the people are rising up to demand freedom from the repressive regime. That regime is responding with murder. Several activists have been executed for the crime of protesting. And yet thousands continue protesting. Western media isn’t really talking about it but my friend, the actor, Mozhan Marnó, is in touch with people inside Iran and she’s at the UN fighting on their behalf and she’s explaining to me what’s really going on in this huge national uprising.

Nikole is a verified genius, the recipient of a MacArthur grant, and I can feel her genius when I speak to her. She is a toweringly influential intellectual.
