Is losing 145lbs impossible? Let's ask our amazing guest speaker today, Michelle Faraj!
Michelle has now lived in two different bodies. She was once the morbidly obese Michelle, and now she's the 145lbs lighter Michelle. What does this do to the Mind? How did Michelle achieve something that a lot of people find almost impossible. Not only that, but how does Michelle keep the weight off and continue to progress towards the body of her dreams?
It's called hard work & determination. Michelle is living proof that whatever your goals are for your body & health, it's absolutely possible for you to achieve it! Fitness is more than just weight loss, fat loss, six pack abs, ect, it's about building yourself up and defining who you are within!

As a kid growing up I was always told "If you train to young you will stunt your growth". Overloading the body with uncontrollable weight and form will always cause harm to anyone no matter what age you are. The benefits of being 5 years old and starting to weightlift are: growing into the motor skills needed to lift with good form, a absorbing brain that is absorbing an incredible amount of information a day, pliable joints and extreme flexibility. From the sounds of it, starting at a young age sounds like it should be the ideal route.
The amazing guest speaker today, Spencer Moorman, talks about his experience when he started at 8 years old and now his experience as a coach training youths to be incredible humans in the strength training and movement realm. He brings so much knowledge about training at a young age and the benefits of it all. Not only that, but he also dives into the mindset aspect of it all and how young athletes use strength training to improve their attitudes, emotions, form, and functional power.

At age 18 I was kicked out of my home. One year later I decided to enlist in the Army in the worst head space I've ever been in. When I was stationed in Alaska, I was pissed off, angry, depressed, sad, alone, and hated myself. I was trying so hard to run away from my pain and run away from all the things in my head but they would always get louder and louder. My 4 years in the Army I dedicated to myself, my career, and the gym. The gym is where I could feel something else aside from all the other emotions I felt that I already mentioned.
After getting out and looking back to how I trained while I was in the Army, all I was doing was self abusing myself. I was beating myself down and down only because I wanted to pick myself up. Sometimes when we look out our lives we think, "fuck this is all just confusing" and the path to fixing it is even more confusing, but necessary. One thing I have learned in my years of training is, no matter what is going on in your life, in your head, you can not cure it with training. You need to confront those issues and fix them before killing yourself in the gym.

A huge question I get asked a lot is, "yo Matt, how do I let go of bad habits?" This is a great question because a lot of us have bad lifestyle habits that have turned into a lifestyle which mimics the body in thinking this is "ok". This is where obesity, high blood pressure, overwhelming stress, anxiety, depression, ect all start taking place. I will be sharing my best advice for this question today. This answer will not be an overnight fix. Just like everything else in life, you will need to work towards it.
Health, fitness, nutrition, hydration, and sleep all create the longevity in the life you want to live. With this being said, you need to understand and dominate each category. You need to find what you root struggle is. The number one reason why you're not accomplishing something. Once you find out what this is, then you need to ask yourself, What will happen if I don't fix this and what will happen if I do. After you figure that out, then you have one last thing you need to ask yourself, "how bad do I want/need this?" You already know you will be uncomfortable and that you'll need to put in hard ass work, so put that aside and ask yourself honestly. How bad do you want this?

Have you ever posted a photo and had someone tell you, "hey, wow, you've gained weight!" If you have, you understand just how heart breaking that is. Have you ever had someone tell you, "what? you've been working out for how long, and only lost 10lbs?" All these things can truly destroy someone, or in this episode, start a freaking fire in someone so strong that no one will stop them from achieving the goals they truly desire.
Our amazing guest speaker today, Mckenzie Payette, was that girl that was told that she looked "big" in a photo that was posted. The cruel world we live in would rather destroy someone then lift someone up. People would rather say something without thinking instead of thinking how what they will say will hurt someone's feelings. But without these people, who would be there to put us down so we can bring ourselves back up times 100! Never let anything bring you down and keep you down. Let's hear how Mckenzie did it!

There is a whole lot of "I want this I want that" but not enough "I worked my ass off this week, I can not wait to crush tomorrow". Why do we tend to wish we could lose 10lbs but dred the process. Why do we dream to have that one social media models body but aren't willing to do that hard work? There is a lot of dreams out there but only a few ever get achieved, why is this?
The reason is why I started the podcast in the first place, "to inspire people to BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES". Take your goal and break it up into a few small little goals. I call this "goal dissection". Take your 50lbs loss goal and turn it into eating clean for 4 weeks and aiming for 10lbs down 1st. Once you dominate that then set another than anther, and keep doing it until you have dominated your goals.

Settling for less is the easiest route to take, and easy is what we're looking for right? The power of the actions you take are greater than you think. If you have a family, and you decide to make a change for your health & body, you will lead different, think different, discipline different, support different, and be different for the better. Those changes can greatly change the way your kids think, your friends, family, husband, wife, ect. The actions you take can & will greatly impact many others.
If you continue to believe that you can't, then you never will. Same with your relationships, friendships, success, education, ect. If you think that you can't in one aspect of life, many aspects will follow. Health should be priority because your health can't be lost. You can lose a job, business, car, home, ect, but once your health is gone, it's gone! Think greater than yourself and you will see your entire world change before your eyes. All into greatness!

You follow the next big FAD diet and lose 30lbs. After the program is over, what now? What have you learned in order to continue your progress in the real world and for years to come? Majority of people who follow the next big diet or follow a plan from google, end up gaining the weight back. They're a few factors to why this can be and hormones play a huge role, along with mental health, stress, and emotional stability.
When it comes down to the food we eat, we are in absolute control of the reason why we gain weight back after losing it. The more we are aware of these situations the better sustainability will be yours. Not getting results or seeing the number on the scale go down is one thing, but losing 30lbs and gaining it all back is straight up heart breaking.
