[Content Warning]: Child sexual abuse, rape, description of suicide, suicidal ideation, cancer, drug use
Today, Jan is again joined by Andy Campbell, a resilient survivor and inspirational author who has overcome numerous life-altering challenges. Despite enduring multiple surgeries, grueling chemotherapy treatments, and the tragic loss of his youngest child, Andy has demonstrated remarkable strength and perseverance. In Part Two, the conversation shifts from surviving to thriving. Andy delves into the practical tools and mindset shifts that fueled his resilience. He discusses the life-changing impact of EMDR therapy, explaining how it allowed him to process traumatic memories without being physically overwhelmed by them. Andy then shares powerful core beliefs from his book, such as "Always Fall Forward," "There are no hard decisions, only hard consequences," and finding the "chewy nougat center of opportunity" in every challenge. He and Jan explore the importance of words, curiosity, and learning to "hold on loosely" in order to unshackle your potential and transform pain into purpose.

Despite enduring multiple surgeries, grueling chemotherapy treatments, and the tragic loss of his youngest child, Andy has demonstrated remarkable strength and perseverance. Andy shares his harrowing journey of survival, a story that underscores the profound impact of unhealed trauma. He recounts a childhood of sexual abuse and loneliness, the slow death of his mother from cancer, and the bullying that left him feeling small. Andy explains his conviction that "the body keeps the score," believing that decades of internalized pain ultimately contributed to his stage four pancreatic cancer diagnosis. The conversation takes a heartbreaking turn as he details his son's struggle with mental illness, which began at age nine and ended in tragedy years later. This episode is a raw and powerful exploration of how pain ripples through generations. Come back around for Part Two where Andy discusses the tools heโs acquired to press on, including some of his 15 core beliefs.

Today Jan is joined by friend of the pod Dave Markel, host of the S.A.S.S. podcast, and Beth Magnetic, host of the Mormon True Crime podcast, to explore the complex and disturbing question of how an operation like Jeffrey Epstein's could exist for over 40 years. The conversation delves into the roles of power, political radicalization, and wealth in shielding perpetrators, while also examining the profound neuroscience of trauma that silences survivors. They discuss the societal reluctance to confront sexual assault, the re-traumatization of victims who come forward, and the urgent need to normalize these difficult conversations to create change and support survivors.

Announcement: The Jan Broberg Show will be rebranding to Trauma Interrupted Mitigated and Expressed (T.I.M.E.) with Jan Broberg in the near future, so just know itโs us in your feed when the change takes place.
In this series, Jan selects a word to focus on for each month, encouraging growth in a specific area, challenging herself and her audience. This year Jan will be focusing on the difficult words and topics we tend to tie to ourselves, offering insight and tools to manage or overcome these obstacles. This month, the focus is on Recovery. Jan discusses the importance of storytelling as a first step in healing, the challenges of breaking trauma cycles, and the signs of being in recovery, such as self-love and emotional regulation. Sharing a personal story about her son's struggle with addiction and her own moments of despair, Jan emphasizes that recovery is a non-linear journey of self-awareness, resilience, and mindful action. She encourages listeners to engage, share feedback, and continue supporting each other through shared experiences of trauma and healing.

Our Purposeย
Trauma Interrupted with Jan Broberg exists to change the way trauma is understood, discussed, and healed. It is the primary public-facing voice of theโฆ
ย
Why It Matters?ย
Trauma narratives are often fragmented, sensationalized, or oversimplified. Survivors are either ignored or reduced to their worst moments. Trauma Interrupted reframes trauma as a human experience, not an identity, and recovery as a collective responsibility, not an individual burden.ย
The podcast is not just storytelling, it is movement-building media.ย
