True Crime Guys

Our case today was featured on the first ever episode of the hit TV series, “Snapped”.  Which is on the Oxygen network and is mainly centered around female killers who.... snapped....obviously.

We’re talking about the murder of former Texas media mogul and multi-millionaire, Steven Beard.  It revolves around a deadly love triangle, but its three sides are jealousy, greed, and mental illness. This is what we like to call the perfect blueprint for a fictional crime novel.

Our case this week, the brutal, and heinous crimes of Joseph Son. A South Korean born Mixed martial artist turned actor, who some of you might recall from his one and only notable role in the Classic 90s spy comedy, Austin Powers. But for nearly 20 years, he harbored a dark secret, and when the details of his crimes came to light, they revealed him to be much more evil than any Bald, cat petting “doctors”.

In January 2005,  in the town of Crothersville, Indiana, ten-year-old Katie Coleman disappeared after going to her local dollar store(Dollar General), which was only a short distance from her home. This was pretty routine for Katie, and her mother felt at ease with Crothersville being a small town with low crime rates, where neighbors typically looked out for one another. But despite the community's best efforts to find her, Katie never returned home that afternoon...

The Twelve Tribes, the religious chameleon that goes by more names than Frank Abagnale. We're talking about the Vine Christian Community Church, or you may know them as the Northeast Kingdom Community Church? No, doesn't it ring a bell? How about the Messianic Communities?, No?....you must have heard of the Community Apostolic Order…com’on.

So, what do they believe?,

Well, it's a casserole of Christian fundamentalism, Hebrew Roots movement, Messianic Judaism, and the Sacred Name Movement. They also believe everyone else is full of shit and can't be trusted, and they got it all figured out. So, they're flying solo without attaching themselves to any other denomination. Now, brace yourselves for some controversy in this one(as well as child abuse). These Tribes folks have some strict rules, which'll make your head spin. So buckle up we're going to the Yellow Deli!

Tony Alamo - AKA Bernie Hoffman - was a cult leader in the 1960s through the early 2000’s.

Although his empire crumbled in the early 90’s and he died, in 2017, some of his followers are still running around America, putting flyers on windshields advertising his usual talking points of fire and brimstone,  and of course the old adage, “follow me (and only me) or perish in eternal flames, get saved and of course, SEND MONEY.”

Tony was a prominent leader in the "Jesus Freaks" movement of the 1960s. He gained a significant number of followers and amassed a substantial fortune. However, he was later arrested for committing tax evasion and child trafficking for nefarious purposes. Hence why he is the subject of our show today.
