Duckett’s Grove is an 18th-century manor house situated in County Carlow, Ireland.

Although a devastating fire in 1933 left it in ruins, the manor's exterior retains just enough to allow your imagination to rebuild its medieval appearance – you can just how amazing this building must have looked back its heyday.

There is a belief that a curse has cast a shadow over the Duckett Family for generations but would a curse have been cast in the first place?

What did this family do to earn such a sentence of bad luck for generations to come?

North Head, Sydney Australia is situated at the entrance of one of the world’s most beautiful and well know harbours, and for many years, ships and their passengers were forced to quarantine off shore to make certain that epidemics like the bubonic plague, Spanish influenza and small pox didn’t run rampant throughout the country.

Many people were infected whilst on board the long sea voyage to Australia and so a place on land was allocated to restrain the sick while they regained their health, but far enough away from the general population to avoid spreading diseases further.

Quarantine Station Manly was such a place.

The old buildings that remain on this site remind us of the ever present threat that a pandemic can cause, and back in the 1800’s treatment for such diseases may have meant months of pain and sometimes an agonising death.

In this week’s episode of the True Haunting Podcast we arrive at Q Station Manly, to be stripped, showered and quarantined so we can find out who or what still lingers within the walls of the buildings that once housed the sick and dying.

HOTEL DEL SALTO

Sometime in the early 1700's, probably a few years before the 1718 founding of New Orleans as the colonial seat of government, a French settler selected this site for the fulfillment of his aspirations. It was he who planted the twenty-eight live oak trees in two rows of fourteen each, eighty feet apart, to form an avenue of trees, a quarter mile in length leading to the Mississippi River.

Back in the early 19th century, around 1836, the land that is now Oak Alley was acquired by a French Creole named Jacques Telesphore Roman. But back then, it wasn't known as Oak Alley; it was called Bon, Séjour SEDGOR which in French means "good living" – a pretty fitting name for what they hoped this place would become.

This magnificent mansion would have made local society weak at the knees! Yet it also held a dozens of enslaved who were the private property of the plantation owner.

Is this place haunted?

We did not have access to the main house, but we stayed in cottages nestled at a distance.

In our investigation we DID capture a voice that answered our question.

We were in one of the 100 year old cottages.

There has been a long history of tales about ghost ships - those that appear out of the mists on the high seas with tattered sales and creaking hulls. These ships seem to drift endlessly forever looking for a safe harbour so that they can set ashore their long dead crew.

Other ghost ships lay at the bottom of the sea or are now part of huge floating museums that allow the public onboard to vicariously see what life would have been like onboard and to imagine raging air battles with suicide pilots overhead whilst waiting in abject terror for the bomb to hit that would send the ship and all aboard to its death.

In this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast we welcome you aboard one such ghost ship – the USS Lexington as we look for the ghosts that still call this place home and find out whether they scare the many visitors that walk its deck every year at Corpus Christi, Texas where she is now to be found.

A young country singer named Bobby Mackey purchased the building and turned it into the music hall and tavern that still stands today. Paranormal phenomena have been present since day one.

New Orleans is considered the No. 1 haunted city in the USA — the dead people outnumber the living 10 to 1. The city has the highest missing persons rate and a steep murder rate.

When Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne claimed New Orleans, the Native Americans told him the area was used as their burial ground, and any city placed atop of it would be cursed.

The city has since experienced its fair share of diseases, fires and hurricanes.

With tales of vampires and voodoo queens, the city has become a drawcard for the curious and macabre.

We are travelling to New Orleans this October and are staying right in the French Quarter. One of the oldest buildings standing in that part of the city is the old Ursuline Convent building, and as much as the nuns of the order were focused on the spiritual wellbeing of the people something, very weird caught the attention of the city dwellers back in the 1700’s, that was so terrifying that no one dared venture out at night for fear of death.
