TOPICS: Updates on the Daniel Penny Trial, US Vetoes UN Resolution for Permanent Ceasefire In Gaza, Meeting former Black Panther and Illinois Congressman Bobby Rush, Updates on Eric Adam’s shenanigans, Updates on Diddy’s assault allegations, Venezuela Signals Intent to Annex Guyana
Relly starts this week’s episode out with updates on Daniel Penny’s trial being delayed until after the new year. We then discuss the US’s disgusting actions in the UN; being the sole vote against a resolution for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Then Relly and Rudy discuss their experience meeting Bobby Rush, former Black Panther and US Congressman at a screening of a documentary about the assassination of Fred Hampton. We transition to our regularly-scheduled programming of checking in on our goofy mayor and what embarrassment he’s gotten up to this week, including getting neg’d by Joe Biden on a White House meeting about the migrant crisis in NYC. Dimez then catches us up on the latest on the allegations against Diddy, which leads to a greater discussion on the corrupting nature of power, money, and fame. Rudy closes with reaction to the troubling news of Venezuela announcing their intentions to annex a section of Guyana. The crew discusses what familiar factors like oil and foreign intervention means for the possibilities of larger conflict.

TOPICS: Updates on Palestine, Cobalt Mining in Congo, Palestinian Solidarity Actions in NYC, Updates on Eric Adams Corruption News, The Xenophia of Dr. Umar Johnson, The YSL/Young Thug Trial Begins
We keep it in-house this week, because we always have enough to say ourselves… until the next lineup of guests coming soon!
We begin discussion with updates on the genocide in Gaza, including reaction to the end of the week-long truce and hostage exchanges, the vote in Congress on Resolution 888, and continuing on-the-ground updates from solidarity actions in NYC. We then go deeper on the issue of cobalt mining in Congo, and how overconsumption and capitalism are responsible for the perpetuation of the industry. We continue our almost weekly tradition of keeping track of all of Eric Adams' corruption and destructive policies– with a slight tangent on the follies of Dr. Umar Johnson. We wrap up our discussion with updates on the opening of the YSL/Young Thug RICO trial in Atlanta.

TOPICS: Pro-Palestine actions in NYC over the past week, Eric Adams sued for Sexual Assault, NYPD attempting to close public access to radio transmissions, White House working with AT&T to surveil Americans’ phone records, a conversation on Black Creators and their art.
This week’s episode kicks off with discussion of a packed week of Pro-Palestine actions in New York City– including several disruptions during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and on Black Friday. Conversation then transitions to news of Eric Adams being sued for sexual assault under the Adult Survivors Act in New York, another high-profile public figure to be implicated as the law was set to come off the books. Moving on, Rudy talks about the NYPD’s attempt to encrypt its radio communications through a $390 million upgrade, cutting off access to the public– including the press. Then, along a similar theme, he covers another revelation that the White House and AT&T have been cooperating to surveil the phone records of millions of Americans. Dimez wraps up the current events section with an open discussion on what it’s like to be a Black Creator– the struggles along with the fulfillment.
The crew welcomes their guest for this week, performance artist Crackhead Barney. In her words: “My practice is about redefining space and making people uncomfortable. The recent political and racial climate makes everyone aware that there is a deep-seated tension and that we must be open to its underpinnings and the underlying causes. Crackhead Barney is the pulse of the universe, through unspoken sentences and undetermined movement we see the societal impact of a Barney.”

TOPICS: Jesus Ociel Baena, first out, NB magistrate in Mexico murdered, Daniel Penny Trial Update, Breonna Taylor mistrial, Tech Industry profiting from non consensual AI porn
This week’s current event discussion starts with Dimez covering the tragic news of Jesús Ociel Baena, Mexico’s first out, non-binary, being killed. Then the crew discusses the beginning of the trial of Daniel Penny, for second-degree manslaughter, in the killing of Jordan Neely on the subway via deadly chokehold. The crew discusses the importance of staying vigilant with these cases in which coverage is often swept under the rug, and draw parallels to the lack of accountability in the recent mistrial declared in the Breonna Taylor case. Then Rudy brings news to the table of Tech Venture Capital Giant Andreesen Horowitz being exposed for profiting off of noncensensual AI porn.
We then kick it to a spicy, in-depth interview with Edwin Raymond, a retired NYPD officer-turned-activist-and-author. The discussion ranges from recounting prior interactions they had while Raymond was still on the force, Raymond’s whistleblowing on police misconduct, personal run-ins with police while growing up, and differences in opinion on abolition versus reform.

TOPICS: Eric Adam’s phone seized by FBI, funeral for 7-year-old Boy killed by NYPD tow truck, updates on charges in Montgomery Riverfront Brawl case, updates on the genocide in Palestine
We kick the show off by discussing another big update in the unfolding corruption case surrounding Eric Adam’s mayoral campaign. Then Dimez describes their experience attending the funeral of Kamari Hughes, the 7-year-old boy who was killed by an NYPD tow truck a couple weeks ago, highlighting the other power players who were in attendance, and the calls for justice from the family. Relly then provides an unfortunate update on the aftermath of the Montgomery riverfront brawl, with one of the co-captains famous for “the hat throw heard round the world” being charged with third-degree assault. We wrap up the current events portion with updates on the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Rudy reacts to the United States House of Representatives voting to censure Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American Representative in Congress, for using the emancipatory phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.
We then throw it to an entertaining, wide ranging interview with multi-talented writer-actor-comedian Niles Abston. Niles has written for Dave on FX, and has appeared in Netflix's I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson. He's also written and starred in his own films and is a touring stand-up comedian. Discussion ranges from his struggles during the WGA and SAG strikes, to nostalgia for 2004, breaking into the entertainment industry as a Black creative, and how comics are able to broach normally taboo topics– including advocating for the people of Gaza.

This is our first episode with Rudy, organizer with We The People and founder of BlackSky (https://bsky.app/profile/rudyfraser.com), as our third host! Welcome back to the show to stay!In our current events discussion we start off with preparing for Daniel Penny’s upcoming murder trial for choking Jordan Neely to death on a subway car in NYC earlier this year. Our hosts shed light on a transphobic assault at a State Island deli, and offer their perspective on yet another mass shooting in the United States– this time in Lewiston, Maine. They reflect on the tragic story of Leonard Allen Cure, murdered by police during a traffic stop after being freed from sixteen years of wrongful imprisonment. Finally, Rudy leads a discussion on a tech billionaire who called socialism and collectivism “The Enemy” to techno optimism– why he is wrong and why it matters.Follow & watch the episode on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRu0pAefHIs We The People NYC (@wethepeople_nyc on Instagram) runs a hot food & clothes distro every Thursday @ 1PM on the corner of Fulton & Nostrand in Bed-Stuy. Relly recounts his experience at the June 5th 2021 protest to defend Washington Square Park. Dimez discusses the aggressive arrests at last week’s pro-Palestine “Stonewall Was A Riot” march. This turns into a discussion about the beauty of solidarity at the Oct 21st Flood Brooklyn For Palestine march organized by Within Our Lifetime Palestine (@wolpalestine on Instagram, wolpalestine.com), and how the NYPD’s shocking display of police brutality unceremoniously brought it to an end. Guest and comrade Bassel Hashem then joins our hosts to discuss his experiences as a Palestinian living in New York, visiting family in Palestine, and breaking down the current reality of Palestinians as Israel carries out the ongoing Genocide in Gaza and the West Bank. PRODUCER'S NOTE: there were some technical difficulties with the recording software so the hosts feed was not available for the final 10 minutes of our conversation with Bassel. What you hear during that time is Bassel's remarks back to back in response to questions from Relly and Dimez that were unintentionally omitted. Thank you for understanding*

We start today's episode by talking about the horrific violence in Gaza and discuss the importance of intersectionality between colonized peoples in liberation struggles. We then move on to talking about two more instances of NYPD brutality, the weaponization of social media against activists. Leading into our interview with Des, from Rebellious NY (@rebellious_NY on Instagram) we talk about the lack of focus on stories in the Bronx, and shed light on a few stories coming out of the borough.
Des is one of the co-founders of Rebellious NY, who is constantly outside organizing against police brutality and building community in the Bronx. He has been fighting for justice for Mikey Rosado, who was unjustly killed by undercover officers from NYPD's 46th precinct in 2021.
