Yesterday on the Unchanging Word we learned in Romans 4 verses 6-8 that Justification is righteousness Imputed to the one who believes in Christ without works.

The Unchanging Word continues in Romans 4 beginning at verse 9 in which Dr. Mitchell will be speaking of Justification without ceremonies.

In Historical order, which came first in Abrahams life, faith or circumcision?

There was 14 years between Abraham's first believing in God's promise and the ceremony of circumcision.

Circumcision was merely a seal placed on Abraham's faith as a sign of the covenant that God made with Abraham 14 years later.

Dr. Mitchell also explores God's promise to Abraham in verses 13-16.

In our passage today, we will be hearing what David has to say about God imputing righteous to himself.

Verses 6-8 gives us the other side of God’s justification.

You may ask, ‘What is that?’ It is God not imputing sin to the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ!

By the way, have you noticed that both justification by faith found in Abraham, in yesterday’s lesson, and the imputing of righteousness apart from works found in David’s words today are both in the O.T.?

This truth was present first there then, so the Apostle Paul is bring these truths to the forefront here, in the book of Romans. And that is good news.
