In our previous lesson we learned that we have a new position, that of being In Christ.

 In our lesson today, we learn that we now have something else new -- a new deliverance.

the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus so that the very righteousness of the law is fulfilled, not by us, but in us -  when we walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh.

God is indeed for us.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word where we are studying in Romans 7:7-13.

We learned from Dr. Mitchell in the previous lesson, Romans 7:1-6

that the believer has been and is delivered

from the law through the death of Christ.

Through the resurrection of Christ from the dead,

we were joined to this resurrected,

living Son of God that we might bear fruit to God.

Today, we are exploring and learning about

sin and what it does through law.

In verses 7-13 we see how sin used a good,

holy, spiritual and just law for it's own ends. 

And the law turned right around and showed

sin for what it really is. The law displays sin

in it's true character as deception and death.

Also, If you have a pen and paper handy,

Dr. Mitchell will be listing 11 things

that the law can and can not do.

Turn in your Bible to Romans 7:7 to begin

today's study with Dr. Mitchell.

The Unchanging Word continues in Romans 7 verses 1-6 in our study today.

In this study today, Dr. Mitchell states,

"The principle of a holy life is not obedience to the law but union with the risen Lord. You are not joined to the Jesus who walked the earth. You are joined to the Lord Jesus who came forth in resurrection."

The believer's union with the Risen Lord Jesus severs that one from the law and it's jurisdiction. He is dead to sin and the law through the death of Christ and alive to God by faith in the risen Son of God.

Life comes from relationship to God. Death severs relationship to the law, even the law of God. 

As we will find out, there is nothing wrong with the law, but there is something very wrong with us. We are too weak to keep the law. The law is too heavy for us to bear. We stumble and fall and bear the guilt.

So, Is there a remedy? Yes. His name is Jesus.

Now, let's turn in our Bible to Romans 7:1. With Dr. Mitchell. 

The Unchanging Word Bible study continues our study in the Book of Romans, the systematic exposition and foundation of the Christian faith. 

In moving on from Rom. 6 we are now continuing on into Romans 7. Dr. Mitchell will give a brief overview of the sections of Romans 7.  What will we discover in Romans 7? It is an ongoing deliverance…this time it is deliverance from law.  And not only this, but Dr. Mitchell also explains in Romans 7 why God gave the law.

With reference to Jesus, you will hear Dr. Mitchell make a distinct difference between Jesus keeping the law for you and Jesus Christ meeting the demands of the law for you. They are not the same. Dr. Mitchell will explain this difference.

So, turn once again in your Bible to Romans 7:1 with our teacher Dr. Mitchell.

On the Unchanging Word today, we are looking at Romans 6:16-23.

Now, in this section of Scripture, Dr. Mitchell deals with God's deliverance from sin as a practice.

Through faith in Christ, each one who believes in Jesus no longer has a need to sin. In fact there is even a sense of shame about our past sins.

The Unchanging Word is studying in Romans 6:12-15 today.

God's order is first faith, faith in the truth, and then experience, the experience of God's work in our lives. It is first, faith in God's Word, then comes an new understanding of God's Word.

On the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast today, Dr. Mitchell, in speaking of the believer's identification with Christ, asks

" Am I going to believe God or am I going to believe my experience? I’m asking you not to look at your feelings or your experience, but to dare to believe that what God says is true. "

In working through this Chapter Six of Romans, verses 6-11, the Apostle Paul calls upon the believer in the Lord Jesus to know the facts and count the facts to be true. What are the facts? First, When Christ died, I died Secondly, When Christ was raised, I was raised. And we are to reckon, count on or. compute in our hearts and minds that this is what God says is true of you and me, who believe His Word written here. So are you and I going to believe God or not? It pleases God when we do!
