In Exodus 2 we are introduced to the family of

Moses. Under edict from Pharaoh for all the male children to be put to death at birth, we learn of the birth of Moses.

We are introduced to the father, mother and sister of Moses. Moses will become a type of another deliverer, Jesus Christ, who delivers us from

all sin.

Dr. Mitchell encourages mothers and mothers to be.

God used the mother of Moses to preserve

and prepare her child for God’s purposes.

As such, for only a few years, by faith, this mother poured the truth of God into her growing child’s heart and life even under an edict that children were to be killed.

Dr. Mitchell will share a couple of N.T. verses relating to this 2nd chapter of Exodus and the life

In our journey thru Exodus chapter 1, Dr.

Mitchell shares how the children of Israel

went down to Egypt and multiplied greatly.

Before their exodus from Egypt, chapter one

of this book gives us the circumstances and status

of Israel before Moses was born.

The dire situation is that a new Pharaoh

arose to power who did not even know, let alone

remember, the life-saving deliverance Joseph

gave Egypt some 300 years earlier.

Knowing history is important!

A person who does not know past history is bound

by their own present short experience.

This ignorance of the past and it’s benefits for the present and the future leads to destruction.

For Israel, a ruler with no knowledge of the

benefit done for his country by a former deliverer,

brought Israel into cruel bondage.

propitiation for the sins of both the believer

and those of the whole world.

the one who trusts in Jesus Christ.

Having been given all authority both in heaven and

on earth, Our Lord Jesus Christ commissions

His 11 disciples to disciple all nations.

From Matthew chapter 1, where Jesus is named,

He is the one will save His people from their sins

by His death on the cross.

Here in chapter 28, our Lord Jesus Christ is risen

from the dead and is alive and always with them.

He commissions His disciples and teach His Word.

Matthew has presented Jesus the Christ the

Son of the Living God who will build His church.

Each person, in hearing God’s Word and believing

in Jesus Christ, can have eternal life both here

and now and in the life to come.

Each one of us is called to trust and believe,

to love and obey. Are you doing so?

In Acts 17:30 the Apostle Paul witnesses of

the Lord Jesus to the Athenians:

“God has fixed a day in which He will judge the world

in righteousness by that man whom He has

appointed, having given proof to all men by raising

Him from the dead."

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is God’s proof

that He will deal with all unrighteousness in due time.

Wrapping up the Gospel of Matthew, we are in

chapter 28, vss. 16-18.

In these verses, we see the post resurrection

relationship of Jesus with his disciples.

The disciples worshipped the Lord, but as Matthew

records, some doubted.

In spite of this, Jesus reveals that from now on,

all authority has been given to Him, both Authority

in heaven and upon earth. His authority was given

to Him because of His suffering, death and

resurrection for you and me and for the vindication

of the righteousness of God His Father.

The 11 disciples also obeyed the Lord and met Him

at the mountain in Galilee as He instructed them.

The Lord now commissions His disciples to make

disciples of all nations, including Jews in Israel.

Here is Dr. Mitchell with Matt.28:16-20 on the

In Matthew chapter 28, we are looking at verses 8-15.

Certain women seeing and hearing the angel, feared. But he assuaged their fear with kind words and sent them on a mission.

Leaving the tomb, Jesus met and greeted them. Recognizing His voice, they worshipped Him.

Jesus repeated the words the angel had spoken.

These women were to go and tell His disciples to go

to Galilee where they would see Him.

Meanwhile, guards, persuaded and paid off to lie about what really happened at the resurrection tomb, spread a story to the people

Matthew himself records, that this story had been spread for 20 to 25 years among to Jews to that very day that he wrote his gospel.

Aren’t you glad God has revealed the truth?

Jesus is alive now today.

We will be looking into the first 8 verses of Matthew 28 during this lesson.

Dr. Mitchell brings out the fact that the

resurrection of Jesus Christ is foundational to

the gospel faith of the Christian, one which is

often attacked.

Matthew, one of Jesus’ disciples, recorded three

times our Lord announced His resurrection from

the dead. Just as Jesus had said, so it happened.

Dr. Mitchell makes this statement about the body

of our Lord Jesus Christ : “The word, resurrection,

means nothing if that which died was not raised

from the dead”.

Jesus’ bodily, physical resurrection is what is meant. His body died and His body was raised. Jesus, in His resurrection body, could be

seen and touched. He could eat and the disciples

ate and spoke with the Lord.

Let’s hear Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word

Matthew 27:56-66 will be the focus of our study

in this lesson from Dr. John G. Mitchell.

Let’s first join our teacher in Matthew 27:52-53 as he discusses this curious scripture. Matthew is the only gospel writer who mentions the resurrection of many saints. They came out of their tombs after the

resurrection of Christ and went into Jerusalem.

It seems Matthew is proclaiming the truth of the

resurrection of O.T. saints in the future, at Jesus’ second coming to enter into His kingdom to fulfill God’s promises to the Fathers. This is a hope of all Israel.

Dr. Mitchell clarifies what kind of resurrection

Matthew writes about. He also describes the respect

and actions of Joseph of Arimathea for the body of

the Lord Jesus Christ.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Matthew 27:52 on the

When our Savior Jesus Christ died,

several things happened at once.

In Matthew 27:51-56, Matthew describes that Jesus

cried out with a loud voice and yielded up His

spirit. Then the veil in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. It was at least 4” thick.

The earth shook from an earthquake and rocks were split, tombs were opened and many bodies of

a few dead saints were raised and the

centurion said “This truly was the Son of God”.

There is a 3-fold testimony from God the Father

concerning the work His Son on the cross.

1st - the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom to give access to God for everyone.

2nd - Jesus was raised from the dead

3rd - He sent the Holy Spirit
