Our study in 1st Thessalonians chapter 4
continues with verse 13.
Welcome to the
Unchanging Word Bible study.
Our study now brings us to the Divine
revelation from the LORD to the apostle
Paul. This revelation is couched in the
personal need of hope about certain ones
among the Thessalonian believers. This need,
to which Paul responds, has to do with the
question, "What will become of those
who have died and been buried before the
Lord has returned"? What is their hope?
Paul writes to them concerning this mystery
revealed to him by the Lord Himself.
This revelation is written in verses 13-18.
But today, Dr. Mitchell will give us a
brief overview of the distinctions between
the Lord's coming for His own, the Church,
and the Lord's coming to redeem Israel as
a nation during the great tribulation and
end the rule of the nations. Then the Lord
Jesus will establish His Kingdom on earth in
Jerusalem.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word
Bible study as our study continues in
1st Thessalonians, chapter 4 beginning
at verse 9.
As we said before, the Apostle Paul is
giving certain exhortations on the expected
Christian lifestyle. In this next section,
verses 9 - 12, Paul turns our attention
to 3 topics. First, love, secondly, quietness
and lastly to working to support one's self.
Dr. Mitchell also gives us exhortations on
how we are to walk with respect to one another,
toward other Christians and toward those
who are outside the sphere of a personal
relationship with Christ.
So, let's ask ourselves, How is our walk? What
kind of lifestyle do I maintain to the glory of God?
How am I loving other Christian believers?

The Unchanging Word continues into chapter 4 of 1st Thessalonians beginning at verse 1. We will be looking at the first 8 verses.
The Apostle Paul now begins some various exhortations, admonitions, and instructions in practical christian living, and Christian lifestyle and how to walk in holiness and be pleasing to God. In these first 8 verses, he reiterates a command he had given to these Thessalonians concerning practical sanctification.
Dr. Mitchell communicates to us the need for the Christian's sanctification unto God through Jesus Christ.
The Lord does this by means of His Word of truth. Just as Jesus intercedes with His Father in John 17,
"I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth."
John 17 verses 15-18

May 20, 2024 Epistle of 1Thessalonians 3:10-13 - Believing and Loving at the Coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ - Prog 16
On the Unchanging Word Bible study, we are finishing out 1Thess. chapter 3 with verses 10-13.
Paul's desire for these Thessalonian believers was that their faith might be perfected and their love would continue to increase and abound, not only for one another but also for all people. He points out the reason for this: It is that the saints will be able to stand in holiness and blame-less before God at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
Dr. Mitchell speaks on these verses in our lesson today bringing in other relevant verses from the Scriptures to amplify the truth. He elucidates on the true meaning of the grace of God as well as God's intense interest in bringing us to maturity in His presence.

Our study in the Unchanging Word begins in 1 Thessalonians chapter 3 verses 6-9. Our teacher, Dr. Mitchell looks at the truth from God's Word in these verses.
The Apostle Paul wrote this letter to the
Thessalonians right after Timothy had
returned from them to the Apostle. So this first letter is written to this young
church in response to their love for him
as well as to answer some concerns these believers had with reference to some who had since died and a question about the day of the Lord.
But here in verse 6, Dr.Mitchell challenges us with the reality of the relationship between the faith and love of believers that - we may be long on faith and short on love. Both are just as important!

May 15, 2024 Epistle of 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 - Our Hope or Joy or Crown of Rejoicing before the Lord Jesus
In our study today, the Unchanging Word
presents an exposition of 1Thessalonians
chapter 2 verses 17-20.
Welcome and thank you for studying along
with us here. In these verses, the apostle Paul writes of his desire to see this young church
once again but was hindered by Satan from his being able to visit these dear believers.
Dr. Mitchell however points out that
in spite of the present opposition, this new church would yet be a crown of Paul's
ministry, a joy and glory when the Lord
Jesus Christ comes again. Dr. Mitchell lists the
several crowns listed in Scripture.
Each one of us, who know the Lord Jesus Christ
has a spiritual gift which the Lord uses to build
His church. So remember in 1st Corinthians 15:58
it is written: "Be steadfast, unmovable always abounding
in the work of the Lord knowing that your labor
is not in vain in the Lord".

May 14, 2024 Epistle of 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 - Opposition to the Gospel of the Grace of God in Jesus Christ
The Unchanging Word Bible broadcast
is studying 1 Thessalonians chapter
2 verses 14-16 where Paul is comparing the
persecutions the Thessalonian church
experienced to the churches in
Judea who are also in in Christ.
So, Dr. Mitchell draws our attention to
the opposition to the message of the
Gospel. The two sources of a Christian's
persecution are unbelieving people of the world
and Satan. Both are enemies of God, of Christ, of the Word of God and of the Christian.
Then Dr. Mitchell give us a short overview of the meaning of the phrase, "filling up their sins to the full so that wrath has come upon them to the uttermost" in verse 16.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word
Bible study! We are in 1Thessalonians
chapter 2 beginning at verse 13.
In this passage Paul gives a reason
for why he is praying for this new
little church in Thessalonica. It was
because they actually believed that
the message Paul proclaimed to them
was actually the Word of God and not
merely a message from a man, or some
new johnny come lately philosophy.
Not only did they believe God's Word
but it was already at work in them
producing fruit in their lives.
Dr. Mitchell points out how these
young believers were already suffering
persecution for the Word of God
just like the believers in Judea did when they believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.
He states that this persecution comes
from the enemies of God, both people and
Satan.

The Unchanging Word Bible study begins in 1Thessalonians 2. We will be putting in at verse 7.
The Apostle Paul, here, makes mention of their gentleness, affection, labor, holiness, justice and blamelessness during their ministry among them. He acted as a caring and nourishing mother and as a strong and comforting father to these his spiritual children.
Not only did Paul bring the gospel to them, but he also imparted to them his own soul, working night and day.
In this passage, Dr. Mitchell brings us insights relating to the evangelist to the pastor and to the teacher.
