The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast continues in 2Thess. 2 verses 6-9 in this lesson.

Thank you for studying with us as we explore the Word of God concerning that which is even now restraining the manifestation of the man of sin.

The Apostle Paul wrote to these believers around 52 A.D. He states that even then the mystery of lawlessness was already at work. It is even now, today, still at work after these many centuries. But there is one who is restraining the man of lawlessness so that he is not revealed until his time.

Dr. Mitchell will explain who the restrainer is. He also gives us the scriptures dealing with the certain destiny of the man of sin. He warns us about looking for signs and miracles because even Satan can perform signs and miracles.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast. We are studying in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 3 thru 5.

In these verses the Apostle Paul writes to these believers that that they should not allow anyone to deceive them.

Why did he say this?

Because someone was preaching wrong doctrine that the day of Lord had already come and they were in it and they were alarmed.

These believers had forgotten the sequence of events they were first taught in 1 Thessalonians 4 and 5 which was the rapture first then the day of the Lord following.

So Paul writes to remind them of what he had already taught them about this sequence, that is what it is that must occur first before the day of Lord begins and the man of sin revealed.

Dr. Mitchell points out that the day of the Lord is a well marked event and that there is even now many antichrists waiting in the wings.

Here in God's Word, we are finding out about the events of the day of LORD. Dr. Mitchell will gives us a scriptural overview and meaning of the apostasy, the falling away written in verse 3.

He states that it is happening even in these days. Churches depart from the Bible and the Person and Work of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In verse 4, he speaks of the man of sin, the lawless one which the world will want.

Turn with us in your Bible to 2nd Thessalonians.chapter 2 verses 3 and 4, with Dr. Mitchell.

In this section of scripture, the apostle Paul writes concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him. Why?

Because there had been a deceptive communication sent to these believers that they had missed the rapture, and were now in the great tribulation of the day of the LORD.

So Paul writes to them to correct that wrong teaching. He sets forth the sequence for the day of the Lord to begin. It has to do with the apostasy, the grand rebellion, a falling away which has to occur first.

Dr. Mitchell will point out that the day of the Lord does not start until after the rapture of the church. He makes clear the differences between the rapture and the day of the Lord.

Our study in 2nd Thessalonians resumes in chapter 1 verses 9 - 12 here on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast.

In this letter Paul wrote the Thessalonians to bring them comfort concerning the persecutions which they were experiencing.

They had been mislead by some communication which did not come from Paul, that said the day of the Lord had come, so that was why they were in suffering and persecution.

Paul writes to correct the deception and to bring comfort these believers.

Dr. Mitchell tells us the truth in saying that God is today showing mercy to sinners. This is because God's righteous character has been vindicated by Jesus' shed blood on the cross. You too can have this benefit by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for us and for our sins according the scriptures.

In these verses the apostle Paul writes concerning the coming of the Lord Jesus to be glorified with His saints in that day, the Day of the Lord in which Jesus will judge the world of unbelievers.

Dr. Mitchell draws our attention to the comparison between two groups of people found in these verses. One group for destruction the other for glory. Dr. Mitchell garners several verses stating the destination of those who know Jesus Christ as one's own savior and Lord.

As he says: the difference between life and death is Christ.

In which group do you find your self? Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will will be destined for glory!

The Unchanging Word continues in the study of 2nd Thessalonians.

Welcome to this study in the book of 2nd Thessalonians which speaks of the Day of the Lord.

In our verses today, Paul writes by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit concerning the Lord Jesus who will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels to inflict vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not believe the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dr. Mitchell speaks of the purpose of the Day of the Lord in these verses. How much easier to speak of the love and grace of God, but he says, there is another side to the righteousness of God. So Dr.Mitchell confronts the attitude of those who suppose they are able to stand in God's presence on the basis of their own merits.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, 2nd Thessalonians chapter 1 verses 7 and 8.

Dr. Mitchell begins by discussing the recompense of God written in these verses. He states that God is going to reward His people and He is going to bring affliction and judgment on those who do not trust in Him through the Lord Jesus Christ, His Son. God is righteous.

Now notice the contrast in verses 6 and 7. God will afflict those who afflict the believer and will also grant relief to us who are afflicted. He will do this on the day when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven.

Now the question is asked, on which side of God's righteousness are you? On which side of the cross are you? Are you on the resurrection side of the Lord Jesus Christ? Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!
