Our study today begins with one of the several warnings found in the book of Hebrews. 

In chapter two verse one, the author says "we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard lest we drive away for it!" 

And again He writes that this great salvation was first spoken through the Lord.

Let's remember when Jesus spoke to the people in John 8:24. Jesus speaking says

"I said therefore to you, that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that "I AM", you shall die in your sins."

This great salvation in built upon the foundation of the Deity of the Son of God Himself who died for our sins on the cross and rose again as proof of His eternal sonship. Romans 1:1-4

Dr. Mitchell continues our study here in Hebrews 2:1. Here is Dr. Mitchell.

Today in Hebrew 1 we will looking at the superiority of the Son of God over angels.

The author of Hebrews, as he writes, asks four rhetorical questions about angels. 

But when it comes to the Son of God, he doesn't ask questions! Instead he quotes the Word of God concerning the truth of the Son of God, Jesus Christ!

Our teacher, Dr. Mitchell continues in Hebrews chapter one beginning at verse 4. 

So, turn with us to Hebrews chapter 1 verse 4 with Dr. Mitchell.  

Today in Hebrews 1:4-14 Dr. Mitchell continues our look at the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. 

The author of Hebrews demonstrates, by the Scriptures. the superiority of the Son of God over angels. He writes that Jesus has inherited a more excellent name than the angels.

In fact, do you remember that before Jesus was born, it was an angel, Gabriel, who told both Joseph and Mary that the Son of God being born by her was to be named Jesus? Mat.1: 20-21 & Luke 1:26-31. Jesus is superior to angels.

In fact in Revelation 19:11-16 Jesus Christ is called and named with four different names. Our Lord Jesus has indeed inherited a more excellent name than any of the angels.

Dr. Mitchell helps explore more of the excellencies of the Son of God today. Turn with us to Heb.1:4.

We are grateful for you being here today, listening to the Unchanging Word. 

Our study in Hebrews is centered around the person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ concerning whom God is speaking today.

Do you remember when God spoke from heaven at the transfiguration how God said to Jesus "

This is My beloved Son, My Chosen one, in whom I am well pleased.?" 

He then says to the disciples themselves,

"Listen to Him!"  

Mt.17,Mark 9, and Luke 9 

At the very foundation of what Jesus has since said is this 

"Unless you believe "I AM" you shall die in your sins"  John 8:24

Believing in the Deity of Jesus Christ is foundational to one's salvation from sin.

Today Dr. Mitchell covers this truth about our savior in Hebrews 1:1-3.

Do you remember Jesus' first post resurrection ministry to his disciples in Luke 24? How took them through the O.T. scriptures which referring to Himself saying, 

"These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled."

Lk.24:44

The Unchanging Word is studying the book of Hebrews. This is a book that contains 102 O.T. Scripture references of which, here in Chapter One, there are seven. 

This chapter emphasizes the Deity of God's Son, God's Messiah through whom God is today speaking to us in His Unchanging Word.

So, if you will,l take your Bible and turn with us to Hebrews 1:1. We will be looking at verses one and two with our teacher Dr. Mitchell.

As we will hear in today's introduction, the Lord Jesus has three works to accomplish and the book of Hebrews deals with Christ's present work in Heaven for the believer.

It is a book of hope and assurance based on the finished work of Christ on the cross in the past as well as His personal return in the future. 

But what about now, today?

What is Jesus doing for each believer today? We will be discovering this in this study of the book of Hebrews.

Here is Dr. Mitchell as he continues his introduction to today's study. Turn with us to Hebrews 1:1-2 on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Our study today continues in the New Testament book of Hebrews. Hebrews was written by an author known only to God Himself but one who knew his Scriptures very well. This author quotes no less than seven Old Testament passages in just this first chapter concerning the savior.

 That leads to the question:

Do you and I know the Word of God that well? Do we know where to find the Scriptures that speak of the Lord Jesus Christ?

Jesus Himself said in John 5:39

"You search the Scriptures because in the them you think you have eternal life, and it is these that bear witness of Me."

If you have not as yet, do come to Jesus that you may have eternal life!

With his introduction to this grand book of Hebrews, here is our teacher Dr. Mitchell, Hebrews 1.

Now the book of Hebrews is a very important book in the Bible because the author writes concerning what Jesus Christ Our Lord is doing in heaven at the right hand of God the Father today as I speak and as you listen. 

This is such an important topic that Dr. Mitchell is going to be spending several weeks on this book.

There are 13 chapters in this book, but right now let's listen to Dr. Mitchell in Hebrews chapter 1 verse one as he begins his overview of this epistle of Hebrews.
