The Unchanging Word Bible study continues in Hebrews 5:11.

The writer of Hebrews is wanting to continue speaking about Jesus as the great high priest, but he has to pause to address these Hebrew believers. He had to encourage his listeners to get back on track with really hearing the Word of God which they were listening to.

Even the Lord Jesus addressing the seven churches of the book of Revelation concludes each message to each church with the these words:

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches".

Well Dr. Mitchell continues today's lesson around the third warning in the book of Hebrews. Turn with us in your Bible to Hebrews 5:11 with Dr. Mitchell.

The Unchanging Word bible study is in Hebrews 5:7-10. Today we learn about our savior Jesus Christ during the days of His flesh, during the days He lived on the earth.

We learn that Jesus cried, he prayed, he learned obedience, he was made the source, that is, the leader of eternal salvation. He was designated as an High Priest by God.

Dr.Mitchell will especially show us from the Scriptures, the very tender and compassionate heart of Jesus Himself toward people in suffering.

The Unchanging Word Bible study begins today in Hebrews 5:1.

As we have learned, the Book of Hebrews is centered around the truth that Jesus Christ is our Great High Priest.

Dr. Mitchell opens our study today with the question: Can Jesus qualify as an high priest?

He continues by giving us from the Scriptures 6 qualifications for being an high priest. And we find that Jesus pre-eminently qualifies as an High Priest now having been raised from the dead and exalted to the right hand of God.

Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.

That statement also comes from this book, Hebrews 13:8.

Dr. Mitchell begins in our program today in Heb.4:16 where we can come to the throne of Grace to receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Don't we need that in these days of turmoil and confusion? Jesus bids us to come to Him where we are just as we are and present our requests to Him, our Great High Priest.

According to Heb.5:1, Jesus must qualify as an High Priest. And the question is asked "Does He"? Does this Jesus qualify for being a High Priest?

In our next couple of lessons, Dr. Mitchell presents six qualification for a person to be an high priest. He will go on to show us that Jesus does qualify on all 6 counts.

Today on the Unchanging Word Bible study Dr. Mitchell looks at Hebrews 4:14-16 where we see Jesus, the Son of God, our great high priest.

Jesus was tempted in all points as we are yet, without sin. Not only is Jesus the Son of God, the only begotten of the Father, but He is also the as we have learned, the Son of Man, born of a virgin.

Therefore, as the true man, Jesus is without sin.

There are other scriptures that declare that our Lord Jesus had no sin, did no sin, and in whom there is no sin.

Jesus said to his opponents:

"Which of you convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe me?" John 8:46

So as God manifest in the flesh, Jesus can now today sympathize with you and me in our weakness, since He too was tempted in all points as we are.

We continue in the book of Mark, chapter 1 in this 9th installment of the Ambassador Weekend review.

May the presence of our savior through these studies encourage and strengthen the realization of God's love for you and your love for Jesus.

Dr. Mitchell now continues his overview of the book of Mark beginning in chapter 1.

The focus today on the Unchanging Word is the Word of God found in Heb.4:12-13.

With illustrations from the farm, Dr. Mitchell shows what the Word of God is and what it is not.

On the Unchanging Word Bible study today we are in Hebrews 4 verse 1 examining the rest of faith.

Resting in God's finished work we believe what Jesus said on the cross, " it is finished." The work of eternal redemption is now finished.

So the rest of faith will be evidenced by ceasing to work for our salvation, and ceasing in trying to keep our salvation. Instead, let's rest in the finished work of Christ on our behalf.

The conscience finds rest at the cross. The heart finds rest in fellowship with Christ as we walk with Him day by day.

Dr. Mitchell explains that Our salvation is started by God, continued by God and completed by God.

He goes on to share the basis of our salvation, the means of receiving salvation and the assured completeness of salvation. All simply by believing God and His Word.

So turn in your Bible to Hebrews 4:1 with Dr. Mitchell.

Today on the Unchanging Word Bible study, we begin in Hebrews 3:16-19.

In these verses we see that the author of Hebrews poses three questions. He does this to awaken the reader to the truth. But so as not to leave us in the dark, he also answers these three questions.

He answers these three questions by asking three other questions.

And Dr. Mitchell further explains the need for believers to actually believe God, to believe His Word when we might feel inclined to do otherwise.

He further states: Faithfulness is the manifestation of belonging to God's house and the experience of rest is the manifestation of believing God's Word.

So have you, as one beloved of God, entered into that rest of faith, that security, that assurance, that peace of heart and mind concerning your salvation?

You can if it is based on the pre-eminent person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. Through faith and obedience we can enter that rest.

Well let's turn in our Bibles to Hebrews 3:16, where our teacher, Dr. Mitchell, has more to say about this rest of faith.

We are in Hebrews 3:12-15 on the Unchanging Word Bible study today.

Dr. Mitchell shares seven appeals found in our Scripture passage today. He also explains the passage as making a distinction between loss of salvation and the loss of that rest and fellowship in the finished work of Christ.

He begins with the exhortation found in Heb.3:12 to take heed, to take care of our heart.

Observe in verse 12, how evil is defined as a 'heart characterized by unbelief in the Living God.' This unbelief is what God declares to us as evil.

So what we know of the living God is what we know of His Word, the Bible.

Also, we are exhorted to "encourage one another day by day"

This is what the Unchanging Word program desires to do for each person listening to us today.
