Dr. Mitchell will be exploring Romans 12:11-18 in today's Bible study on the Unchanging Word.

We have been looking at what the Apostle Paul wrote, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to the Gentile believers in Rome concerning instructions in displaying Christian virtues. These are very practical in dealing with tribulation, prayer, the needs of the saints,  hospitality, persecution, as well as empathy for and with others in their situations. Dr. Mitchell shares several Scriptures which amplify the virtues listed here.

As we conclude this lesson, there is an exhortation to be at peace with all men. 

In this day of such diverse points of view on just about anything and everything under heaven, we are exhorted to be at peace with all men, if possible according to what is within you. With the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit in us, along with the grace of God, we can do that.

Love is the ministry each one has to one another. We will be looking at love here in Romans 12,

as well as how to deal with what is evil and also what is good. 

Christian virtues such as kindness, honor, diligence, fervency of spirit in serving the Lord,

hope, patience, and prayer are listed in this passage and Dr. Mitchell covers each of these virtues. 

Once again, open your Bible to Romans 12:9 as we begin our study, here, with Dr. Mitchell.

In today's lesson, in Romans 12:6-8, Dr. Mitchell will be looking

at the various spiritual gifts that are listed here by the Apostle Paul. 

The Apostle writes to the church in Rome concerning their place

and responsibility in utilizing the gifts that God has given them.

He states that these gifts differ one from the other according to the grace of God.

No one has all the gifts but each one has at least one gift for service to God

in the body of Christ, the church. It is the Lord Christ whom we serve.

Dr. Mitchell will be going through each gift listed here to explain

what each one is. There are 7 gifts listed in this passage.

There are two other passages in the New Testament where

spiritual gifts are listed. They are 1Cor. 12 and 1Pet. 4.

With your Bible open, turn with us to Romans 12:6 with Dr. Mitchell.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word Bible study.

Our lesson continues in Romans 12:3-5.

In the verses in our study, we will begin to see the outcome of the dedication

we make to God of our selves for His service in the body of Christ. 

The Apostle Paul addresses these Gentile believers to have a sober and

balanced assessment of one's self as to the faith which God has given them for service.

The service for God, that each Christian has in relationship to the Lord,

is mutually interdependent, one with one another in the church, the body of Christ.

Dr. Mitchell states that there is plenty of room for cooperation and love

without competition, envy or dissension. Each believer has a particular place

and function in the body of Christ, because God has given spiritual gifts

to each one who knows Him through faith in Jesus Christ.

Turn with us to Romans 12:3-5 with Dr. Mitchell.

The Unchanging Word Bible study continues in Romans 12:1-2. 

Chapter 12 begins the Apostle Paul's appeal to the believer in Christ

for dedicated Christian living. Dr. Mitchell points out that

this is an appeal not a command. He appeals to the believer on the basis of the

mercies of God, which were displayed in the finished work of the person

of our Lord Jesus Christ and explained in the previous eleven chapters.

In these two verses, the appeal is made to present our bodies a living sacrifice. As one

has said in time past, "The problem with a living sacrifice is that it tends to want to crawl of the altar". 

Well, it is a sacrifice, acceptable to God, it is reasonable, it is a spiritual service of worship and it is based on the many mercies of God already shown to us.

Let's turn in our Bible to Romans 12:1 with Dr. Mitchell.

On the Unchanging Word we are studying in Romans 11:33-36.

As we conclude chapter 11 of Romans in this

lesson, we will see arrayed before us something of the Apostle Paul's

praise of the riches of unsearchable wisdom, knowledge, judgments and ways of God. 

Jesus revealed through His miracles, God's ways and God's wisdom and power.

He revealed who God is and by His miracles who He Himself is.

You can read about Jesus works in the four Gospels, especially in the book of John. 

But here in Romans 11: 33-36, we find that everything that is comes from God Himself.

As it is written: For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.

To Him be glory forever. Amen

As we continue with this exciting study in

Romans 11, we are in verses 27-33 today.

We will learn in this lesson that Israel has a dual relationship with God. With reference to

the Gospel, they are enemies of God, but with reference to God's covenant with their forefathers,

the nation of Israel is beloved of God. 

We learn something about God in this passage as well.

It is this: God's gifts and calling are irrevocable. They are permanent and forever.

That is because God is eternal and does not change His purposes.

God's purpose is to show mercy to all. You and I need God's mercy daily.

Have you availed your life of His mercy by placing the faith which you have

in His beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ?

He is abundant in mercy and His forgiveness is forever.

Let's join Dr. Mitchell in Romans 11:27.

Our lesson begins in Romans 11:25-27.

Continuing on with God's righteousness and

grace in dealing with His nation of Israel, we learn

that a partial harding has happened to this nation.

It is partial because in due time, God will once again save His people. 

Meanwhile, God is now dealing with the Gentiles. And what 

is He doing? He is saving a people out from among the Gentiles.

This people is called the Church. After God has completed the

full number of saved Gentiles, God will then turn and send a

Deliverer from Zion, Jesus the Messiah, and then all Israel will be saved.

As Jesus personally appeared to Paul, so will

the remanent of Israel see and believe in their

Messiah when He personally appears to them

to forgive their sins and so all Israel will be saved.

The Unchanging Word bible study is in Romans 11:16-25 for our lesson today.

In chapters 9-11 of Romans, we are looking at God's righteousness in dealing

with his nation of Israel. But now, here in Romans 11, God has put his focus

on the Gentiles, to bring them to the knowledge of the savior, Jesus Christ.

In today's lesson, the Apostle Paul sets forth the position of the Gentiles with God.

The Gentiles stand by faith. God has placed the Gentiles in a position of privilege

for proclaiming the Gospel of God, the Gospel of the grace of God that men and women

may come to know forgiveness of their sins by faith in Jesus Christ.

(By the way, In this passage we are speaking of Gentiles,

not the church and not of personal salvation but of the Gentiles.) 

So turn with us in your Bible to Romans 11:16 with our teacher, once again, Dr. Mitchell.

The Unchanging Word ministry is studying in Romans 11:7-15.

What is God's purpose for Israel? That is the question this chapter in Romans will answer.

The Apostle Paul still wants his people to come to know the savior.

So here he is writing to the Gentile Romans to inform them

of God's plan for the nation of Israel. 

We learn that Gentiles have come to know Jesus Christ as savior because,

for the most part, the whole nation has rejected their Messiah. 

However there is now still a remanent in the nation of Israel

who are such by the grace of God, born again Jews who

are reaching their brethren with the gospel of Christ.

So God is not through with His people Israel.

As you and I study these chapters, we too

can learn and know what God has yet planned

for His people, the nation of Israel.

So, open you Bible and turn to Romans 11:7 with Dr. Mitchell.
