On the Unchanging Word Broadcast,  we are studying Romans 11:1-6. 

 In this chapter, the Apostle wants to  dissuade these Romans believers from the idea that God is done with the nation of  Israel once and for all. In fact he goes so  far as to declare to these gentile Roman Christians, that God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. So much is this so, that the Apostle Paul himself says that he, as a Jew, has not been rejected.  

In  fact he was a living example of this truth. And we know from Acts 9 that he had in fact been saved by faith in Christ on the road to Damascus when the risen Christ appeared to him and appointed him to be a witness to the Gentiles and the people of Israel.

Dr. Mitchell will be sharing with us how God is not through with the people of Israel, His people.

 The Unchanging Word Bible Study continues in Romans chapter 10 verse 19 and from therein to chapter 11.

As Paul is writing to the church in Rome, he now brings out the fact that God through Moses made mention of the fact that He would be saving Gentiles. 

The law of Moses and the writings of the prophets wrote that the Gentiles would believe even though were not actively seeking God.

So, if God is saving Gentiles, does this mean He has rejected His people Israel? No! Not at all, not in the least. Even though Israel has rejected a free salvation, and a universal salvation, God has  still not rejected them, His people Israel.

Dr. Mitchell states that their rejection is not yet total or final. God is not through with His people yet. And God will yet deal with the nation of Israel, and we will find out more about that later in this chapter.

In these verses we see that righteousness by faith is for all, for any one at all wherever they may be,

for there is no difference between the Jew or the Gentile.

Then, there are four questions asked in this passage.

Ultimately the answer to the question of where can faith come from is answered in this passage.

Dr. Mitchell points out that there is no place where the voice of creation is not heard.

So there is no one on earth who is  ignorant of the living God. 

But by preaching, or sharing the gospel of the crucified and resurrected Christ,

men and women can come to know Him personally.

Here on the Unchanging Word, we are studying in Romans 10 verses 9-11.

Righteousness realized by faith is the subject of these verses. 

Dr. Mitchell states that the most important thing about one's faith is not the nature of one's faith, but the object of one's faith. The great thing is not our faith, but what or who that faith of ours is placed in. 

So we should ask ourselves in all truth, Where is my faith placed?

Who is the object, focus and center of my faith? 

What is your answer, my friend?

Is your faith placed in Jesus Christ, the crucified and resurrected Son of God?

Can you say in all truth to yourself and to anyone who asks you that you have in fact believed in Jesus Christ?

For this Scripture says " if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in you heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, man believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto this  salvation. "

Let's open our Bible to Romans 10:9 with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.

On this Unchanging Word program we are in Romans 10. We will be looking at verses 4 thru 8. 

We are looking at what the righteousness of faith is and how it is the end of the law for righteousness.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

That is the word of faith which we are preaching, as the Apostle Paul writes.

Dr. Mitchell asks, What side of the cross are you on?

Are you on the one side of the cross where there is law, sin and death or are you on the other side, on the resurrection side of the cross, where there is life and union with the risen savior, Jesus Christ our Lord?

Dr. Mitchell will go on to explain the difference between the righteousness based on law

and the righteousness based on faith.

So take your Bible and turn with us to Romans 10:4 with Dr. Mitchell.

 Today on the Unchanging Word Bible program,

we are moving into Romans 10.

We are looking at the first three verses.

Chapter ten turns from a Jewish national matter to an individual and personal matter.

The individual matter has to do with their personal reception of the Lord Jesus as the savior. 

The Apostle Paul once again reveals his heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel. 

He goes on to show the difference between one's self righteousness and God's righteousness. 

He makes the statement that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness,

not the beginning of the law. Christ perfectly kept God's law

and died to vindicate God's righteousness.

So Jesus has now become the righteousness of God for you and me.

This is the good news, the gospel of the grace of God.

Whosoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.   

Well, lets turn with Dr. Mitchell in our Bibles to Romans 10:1.

Our study in Romans is now in chapter 9 beginning with verse 19.

Welcome to the Unchanging Word broadcast.

In Romans 9 we are dealing with God's righteousness with the nation of Israel.

In the last lesson, we found out the God is not unrighteous. In fact, He is very merciful.

The passage in this present lesson deals with God's sovereign right to show mercy on vessels of mercy,

even us who know the Lord Jesus Christ, whom He prepares for glory

while enduring vessels of wrath who prepare themselves for destruction.

Dear friend, have you availed yourself of God's mercy?

In Ephesians 2:4 it is written of God that "He is rich in mercy,

because of His great love wherein He loved us, even when we were dead in our sins…"

Even then He loved us and showed us His mercy.

This is God's grace toward you and me by which

we can be saved from our sin and be delivered from wrath. 

Will you believe in the God of mercy, in the Lord Jesus Christ

and accept Him as your saviour?

You will be eternally grateful when you do.

The Unchanging Word broadcast is in the book of Romans chapter 9 verses 14-18

This passage begins with the question that the Apostle Paul asks.

"Is there unrighteousness with God?"  And he answers in the negative, No! Not in the least.

In the following verses, we see that God is righteous in showing mercy

and showing compassion to whom He wills to do so.

 The Apostle Paul brings out the Scripture concerning Pharaoh king of Egypt

who acknowledged that he did not know the Lord and wasn't going to listen to His voice

and so wasn't going to let God's people go.

Read Exodus 5-12 for the full account of the LORD's dealings with pharaoh and his gods. 

The Lord said He did His miracles so that the Pharaoh and people of Egypt

would know who He The LORD is. Was this not a mercy?

It is also evident that God showed His mercy to His people Israel

and delivered them as He said He would.  

Turn in your Bible to Romans 9:14 here with Dr. Mitchell. 

In our study today, the Unchanging Word 

is continuing in the book of Romans. We are

in chapter 9 beginning at verse 6.

Verses 6-13 begin to show the privilege of the people of Israel who are of the promise

of God, not those who are of the flesh, but of those whom God chose.

The Apostle Paul makes a distinction between Israel according to the flesh,

and Israel according to the promise. 

Israel according to the promise came through Isaac,

Abraham's only beloved son although Abraham had

a total of 8 sons in  his lifetime.

Dr. Mitchell brings out what Jesus Himself said concerning

the distinction between Jews who are of the seed of Abraham

and those who are the actual children of Abraham. 

These verses in Romans 9:6-13 reveal God's righteousness in choosing Jacob

instead of Esau before they had done anything good or bad, not yet having been born,

that God's purpose according to choice might be established.

It seems God's choice was made while they were in the womb

rather than before they were conceived.

On the Unchanging Word program, we are dealing with the question:

Is God righteous in His dealings with  the nation of Israel?

We are continuing a study in Romans Chapters 9-11,

which begins in Romans 9:1-5.

In the first three verses, the Apostle Paul reveals his heart.

Dr. Mitchell explores the heart of a few O.T. prophets who carried 

this same heart and desire for the salvation of God's people.

In the following verses, there are 9 things listed that belong to the nation of Israel.

Dr. Mitchell elaborates on the truth, that from this nation came the Christ, the Messiah of God.

He came to his own, but his own received him not.

Christ came to Israel but Israel did not come to Him, Christ, being God blessed forever.
